This is certainly a cider pub now, very few ales to go at and those are pretty unexciting. Loads of ciders though, many quite rare, boisterous and full, still a very good pub, but not on the beer front.
prev Rating 80, ’’13. Super back street pub near Baltic Wharf, we were on the camp site too. It was absolutely full on the night we were there with a jazz trio playing some traditional foot tapping numbers. The beer is excellent with a few of the West Country beers being served from casks at the back of the bar. Loads of chat and banter, a great place to go.

Took a bit of a walk to get to this place and honestly it was not worth it. First and foremost (as I guess the name suggests) this is a cider pub. Yes they had a very good selection of cask cider. Sadly, I don’t like cider and there were only four beers on stillage. Three of them were very standard (Gem, Butty Bach, etc) and one that was new. Condition was ok for one of them, but the Butty Bach had started to turn a little fruity. It was a Monday afternoon, but the vibe in the place wasn’t too pleasant. A bunch of teenagers out the front jumping on their tables and some middle aged blokes inside telling each other how something one of them had said had greatly offended the other. Basically reminded me of all the things I hated about working in pubs. Unless you want to find some cider, I would advise giving this place a miss, because it is out of the way.

Cracking little corner pub that for us was situated very close to the Baltic Wharf campsite. We visited here on the late afternoon of the 27th December 2011 and was very warmly welcomed by the locals and ladies behind the bar. Great choice of ciders and perries and with three beers on gravity also on our visit. Thoroughly enjoyed this little pub and would be happy for a pub like this to be my local.

Nice little pub that I used to frequent in the late 70’s when on my way to football!! Cleaned up very nicely now, with 6 cask ales to choose from, and enough on tap to keep a man busy for a few hours. It wasn’t really busy so the service was good. Make sure you have a little map if you’ve never been before as it’s off the beaten track! Definately a lot of ciders to choose from, alas, I only tried the beers.

Primarily a cider pub situated in the Spike Island part of Bristol docks, a short walk from the SS Great Britain and well placed for those going to watch Bristol City play. Has recently increased the variety on offer by adding polypins of cider - there were around 12 of these from producers such as Hecks, Richs, Wilkins, Burrow Hill, Orchards, Crossman and Bristol Ciderworks, and rarities like Ashill and Parsons Choice, all at £2.80 a pint. Also had 4 Thatchers’ ciders on handpump, along with 4 ales (from Bath, Arbor, Blindmans and Sharps). Meals at lunchtime and snacks throughout the day. Well worth seeking out. 2009 CAMRA UK cider pub of the year.
