Visited March 17, 2013. After parking the car and walking to a number of other places around town we were just driving back to the freeway and saw this and decided to stop in.

Not a bad bar over all and it was far enough from the drunk fest that I was actually able to get to the bar. Beers are decent, mostly American beers (Stone, Sierra, and a Tap It beer mixed in) with a few randoms. Saw some English bottles sitting around and got a look at their cellar list [:39]. $30 for a Firestone 16 going up to $500 for a Firestone 10.

Service was busy but decent enough esepcially dealing with drunkards all day. Didnt eat. If I really want a pint while in SLO I might choose this place for the simple fact that it’s not as crowded.

Pretty disappointing taplist- nothing that you can’t find at practically any beer bar save for some odd local offering "Tap-It IPA" which was quite nice. They had Hop Stoopid and Ruination on tap as well, but those are pretty ubiquitous. We came in about an hour after it opened and were the only patrons there. Still took awhile for us to get service. Sort of divey place with a decent focus on craft beer but the bottle list looked essentially like lots of stale IPAs and random, easy to get stuff from the beer store down the street Sandy’s. Wasn’t impressed.

Friendly little place at the end of downtown SLO. Most of the taps are static and a mix of a few local, national, and decent inmports. A few rotating taps regularly bring in interesting stuff and sometimes very surprising beers. A little more focused on imports than most beer bars, and on the german/english side without much exceptional stuff but just the standbys for the most part. Food is basic pub stuff. Now that Eureka Burger is open, then isn’t the top draft selection in town, but still a nice, cozy place to have a few pints with friends that is definitely more laid back.

Cozy little beer bar with basic food. Tap selection was decent and they have bottles as well. There is also a nice liquor store with a good bottle selection within walking distance on the same street. Nothing really special but perhaps one of the better options in the area if you are not at the Firestone Walker Brewery.

The best bar in SLO and has a great line up of beers on tap. I was here following the ’West Coast Beer Guide’ and bizarrely bumped into another Brit doing the same. Unfortunately the line up was so good and the staff were so enthusiastic for me to try stuff that I got pretty hammered. Well worth it though. Highlights were the Firestone Walker Double IPA, Anchor range, and too many others that I’ve forgotten.

Fun college bar atmosphere, but did have a few older people mixed in. The only real complaint I had was the single toilets, especially after a few pints my bladder shrinks the size of a walnut so I always had an eye on the potty door. A friendly young waitress with pigtails came along quickly with Beer menus printed on colored paper. The list had some interesting stuff, but not too many that made my jaw drop. Compared to places like Toronado or O’Briens’ I guess this place is more second tier, but they did cover a lot of ground, they seemed to have something for everyone. They had a few crappy imported lagers but not to the detriment of local brews. Our waitress gave us sound advice, and I think she brought me a free sample just to be sure. She came to check up on us every once and a while and chitchatted. Beers tasted fine, so turnover and cleanliness of the tap lines doesn’t seem to be an issue here. Overall a good place to stop in the area, I’d hang out there often if I were a local.

Great beer bar! Their Web site isn’t up to date, so don’t underestimate their selection. When I was there they had loads of goodies on tap (Bigfoot, Old Foggy, Old Rasputin, Racer 5, etc.) An awesome selection of bottles too (Maredsous, Chimay, Aventinus, etc.) Our waitress was extremely enthusiastic about beer and enjoyed talking with other beer nerds. She might even join up on this site because she was so excited that there’s a community of beer lovers out here. Needless to say, this is, by far, the best beer bar in SLO. If you’re still thirsty afterwards, Sandy’s Deli-Liquor is right around the block.
