Went to Otto’s with my boyfriend in late May on a trip from Selinsgrove to State College. Had a sampler of 5 and a pint of the Bourbon Jolly Roger. Good stuff, great atmosphere. Seems like a nice hangout. Would go back if it wasn’t a 3 hour drive. Worth the trip when they have rare beers. Good pretzels.

This was the first time I had been to Ottos since they had moved from their older, smaller location. When I was there previously, it was low noise, few people, same selection and service. The current location has a very big bar area that seats about 35 people at the bar and has at least 15 tables/booths in the bar area and they are all full (good for them). The place is decently lit, the atmposhere is up tempo, 3 big TVs in the bar area and the place is hopping. They have 8 taps of their beer, 1 cask of theirs, 1 guest cider and 1 guest tap. The bartenders are plentiful and attentive and the prices are reasonable (2.50 for 10oz or 4.00 for pints). The bestt (and only) micro brewery in State College.

Nice layout. A lot of breweriana from the owner's collection. The food was excellent. The brisket cheesesteak is really wonderful. The beers are really top notch. There were 12 of them on tap the night I was there. Growler fills are available and the gift shop has bombers for sale in addition to the normal t-shirts and brewery knickknacks. Worth a detour.

Stopped in here on the way to the Voodoo release, I have been to State College Hundreds of times but this was my first trip here. Very nice building with lots of room to spread out and watch the NCAA games on the TV’s. Large bar in the middle with lots of people at it. Service was good. We didn’t have to wait for our beers and food and he was able to suggest a few beers to try.
Quality was pretty good, beer was in the correct glasses and the food was fresh. Speaking of food, I got the brisket cheesesteak and an order of corn fritters, both were quite tasty and affordable. Selection was pretty good. I saw a few things I would have liked to try, my first selection was all gone but I was able to get the rye IPA on cask instead and it was decent. Prices were pretty good all things considered.
Overall a nice brewpub that I will definitely return to in the future.

A nice, open brewpub adorned with historic brewery memorabilia, reliving brewers of yesteryear. We entered within 30 minutes of closing, but were treated as if we had all night to drink our beers. It seems the bar area stays open a bit longer than the restaurant, and so there is no kitchen service in the bar. There were a dozen house beers on and a Stoudts. Jolly Roger was on the beer engine, and was sublime as always.

They did a great job of making it not feel like the the Quaker Steak that used to be there. The bar was in a snake design which is conducive for conversations. Lots of tvs turned to various games although I saw a couple enjoying the Sunday paper as well. The service was fantastic. The bartender brought me water with the tasting platter without me having to ask for it and kept filling it up. They had 7 different things on tap 2 on cask and a cider. I think their pale ales and their ipa’s are the best of the bunch. I had a pizza which was flavor and used fresh ingredients but the weight of the toppings overpowered the crust. I will definitely come back if I’m in the area.

this place is a must stop if you are in the state college area for a football game or just visiting. I attending Penn State for 4 years and once I turned 21 I went an d bought a growler and filled it up on a bi weekly basis. The food is good upscale and the beer is delicious. The beer selection is great if you can go on a weekly basis to try there different selections, otherwise they have there normal one on tap and one or two other seasonals.

Good pub grub and good beer selection. The Double D IPA is delicious, and the Slab Cabin IPA is always consistent. If you’re in Happy Valley, Ottos is worth the side trip.

Visited here on a Saturday night in late August. This brewpub/restaurant/college bar is located in collegetown and attracts a college-type crowd. It is dimly lit with plenty of TVs showing sports games. The beer list is small (and most of the regular items had run out when we were there, so we only ended up ordering a few items before resorting to the local cider) and none of the beers are particularly interesting or very tasty. The food is nothing special either. Based on earlier reviews, this seemed like it would be a cool place with good beer, but that was not the case. If you’re in the area, feel free to stop by, but don’t go out of your way for this place.

Finally got to this place just after they moved buildings. The new place is a good atmosphere, but isn’t really pub feeling. It’s more of a big restaurant with plenty of TVs and beer. Our service wasn’t spectacular, but I can’t complain. The beer itself is decent, but they only had 3 beer types available when I went. I know they normally have a larger selection, but to only have 3 is extremely disappointing. However, the burgers are surprisingly good. Overall I would definitely come back again. It’s a nice, reasonable place to go, but I only hope they don’t have a lack of beer again.
