Odd little traditional Belgian beer cafe located fairly centrally in Antwerp. I have to say I rather enjoyed the experience. Yes it has a very local feel and it is 99% locals, but worth visiting for the beer. They have a comprehensive selection of lambic at unbeatable prices and had it not closed fairly shortly after we had arrived I would have stayed for some time.

I had a similar experience to nbutler11 and 77ships. The bar staff and locals do a pretty good job of making you feel unwelcome while you’re there. The bar hours make little sense. We were rushed out at 730pm on a Saturday so the place could close up. The selection’s not large, but there’s some decent stuff. The best part about this place is the great prices. Very cheap for the middle of Antwerp. Overall, I probably won’t be back.

I would have to agree with 77ships. This is an odd bar with strange hours, and really has little interest in being anything other than a local bar that relishes in making other people feel out of place for liking beer. Wierd. Easy to get to, but why not walk the couple extra blocks to Kulminator?

Antwerp institution, brown as hell but with more than a passing interest in new beers from intriguing breweries. Threatened closure with the smoking ban but thankfully has remained open, and is better for it. Simple sausages and cheese plates available. A tight place, conducive to literally running elbows with the locals. A place where you can tell the landlord what you like and he may come out with a surprise. Service at the bar.

Wonderfully old fashioned little bar, more character than you can shake a stick at. It’s also very cheap and the selection, though not large, is quite eclectic. With the right company, it would be very easy to spend a lot of time in here.

Small and busy bar, with most of the tables inside occupied by locals and regulars.Very good selection, the service was fast and friendly, a must visit.

A small and very busy bar with a local vibe. Very old fashioned with a small but quality beer selection. Worth popping in for one or two on the way into the main center.

Truly bizarre opening hours for a bar, got once turned away at like 7 on a Sunday. Service was weird, not bad – adequate certain – but definitely weird. Prices are not bad, selection is definitely ok. Feels like a real “bruin” café unfortunately in the way that I felt that this was a local only place, especially above my age group still. Felt like being an outsider in a village bar, they were nice enough but not sure whether I belong here. Authentic that is for certain.

Very cozy and popular bar. The beer is fine but the atmosphere makes this place worthy of a visit

A really friendly and welcoming pub with a real ’locals’ atmosphere, but still welcoming to ’outsiders’. The beer range is not the biggest you will find, but it is well chosen and high on quality.
