Odd little traditional Belgian beer cafe located fairly centrally in Antwerp. I have to say I rather enjoyed the experience. Yes it has a very local feel and it is 99% locals, but worth visiting for the beer. They have a comprehensive selection of lambic at unbeatable prices and had it not closed fairly shortly after we had arrived I would have stayed for some time.
True bruine kroeg style pub. Lots of local Antwerp people (can be a loud bunch). Smoking after "closing" inside. Nice selection of beers, good value for money. Not a tourist trap, but not necessary recommended for foreign travelers.
Visited 29th, 30th & 31st May (4 times!). If you only have time to visit one bar in Antwerp this must be it. Wonderfully preserved interior in 1930s/40s style with great atmosphere and a sublime beer selection. Also excellent value - better than others we visited in central Antwerp
Small quiet old fashioned bar on a square. Reasonable selection of Belgian beers. Satisfactory service. Good place to sample the atmosphere of a traditional Belgian bar but not a great place to get exciting new beers.
Wonderful cafe with an apparently original inter-war interior. Despite it’s fame, still caters mainly for locals. Beer menu available on request. Specials are displayed behind the bar and written on blackboards. There is usually something interesting available, often unusual Lambics and on my last visit a selection from Bzark & Bastogne. Highly recommended and an Antwerps classic.
Visited at 10 am on a Saturday (a bar that opens at 7:30 am - f yeah!), and took the last table in the place. Many white haired people were already enjoying a beer or two. Very friendly bartending duo (owners?). The ambiance was great, old but in the comfy homey sense. They had an unpretentious but full card of gueuzes and krieks, young and old Orval and several classics. Prices were dirt cheap. Love this place, will assuredly return when I’m in Antwerp.
