New and modern bar and eatery in the Pavilion shopping centre. Location doesnít win any points from me BUT they have ífreshí beer here and not badly priced during happy hour. The beer quality wonít win any awards (oh wait, they actually have), but anyways itís not the worse youíll find around the city.

first impression - the smell of the place was rather off putting. someone couldnt stomach their beer the night before or it has been around for a while.. the fresh brews had some off notes though.. came here on a curious note.. left in a hurry.

Located at the Pavilion shopping centre between Bukit Bintang and Raja Chulan monorail stations. Nice too have a fresh and tasty beer in this part of the world. Central location and good service. Three different beers on tap.

Itís moved. I tried to find it in the old location and itís empty. I found it by accident on the 4th floor of a shopping/eating centre, I think it might be pavilion shopping centre. I remember using a covered bridge to cross the road into the shopping centre. You arrive on the 3rd floor. Just go up 1 floor. They still have the same happy hour offer. They had 3 beers, I think on tap. They have the dunkel, aromatic beer and a lager. We just had time for 1 beer as we had a flight to catch.
Please feel free to update this information!

Easy walk from the monorail, with the entrance set back from Jl. Sultan Ismail and directly across from Hap Send Star. Covered patio with two flat-screen TVs and two dozen wooden tables and chrome chairs. Ambiance from adjacent construction site will force temporary closure from January 29th through June 1st. Inside is dark with a raised wooden floor and barrel-based wooden tables and padded bar stools. There is a dark wood semi-circle bar with few stools, where a silent flat-screen TV shows football matches. Along the main room is a stage and side lounge room. Walls are gray faux stone and brick with 12-foot ceilings of black ducting. There are plenty of fans to keep the fresh air moving when the patio is fully opened. There were ashtrays at all tables and no WiFi.
The sound-system played pop tunes with the bass kept below both the annoyance and pain thresholds. The menu was a mix of Asian and Western, with salads, pork, Satay, and sandwiches. Most items ranged from $5 to $10 USD.
On Sunday afternoons the staff outnumber customers 6 to 1, but the $10 USD house beers are "buy 1 get 1 free" from Open until 7pm. Buy 1 get 1 half-off from 7 to 9pm. Although the menu showed both a starker Lager and Starker Aromatic, only the lager was available, and it tasted very fresh and "all malt".
Editorial comment: the Malaysian services industry appears to have universally adopted a mandatory 10% "service charge" on services popular with tourists and this appears to have eliminated any staff (tip) motivation for providing quality service as it relates to timeliness or attentiveness.

I think this is the least typical brewpub I have ever visited, but than again, what to expect in Kuala Lumpur? More like a typical KL nightclub image, focus on drinks and a bunch of cute looking young Asian girls in some terrible oktoberfiest look-alike costumes. Expensive beers, yes two for one but I just want to taste one of each and that did not count for the discount. Quite plain, German inspired beer kit flavor beers. Well wonít complain too much, friendly service and the beers are still far better than Tiger Lager.

Canít miss it--the entrance is an oversized beer barrel and so is the streetside sign. Otherwise you could easily miss the bar, as itís set back from the main road. Next to one of those awful looking fake tiki bars that line Jln. Ramlee. I get the sense that this place wants to be beery and it comes across as a little cheesy-cute. The foyer is filled with displays of malt and hops, glassware, and information about the Starker beer. Inside is tacky decor, looks like a karaoke bar. However, the keg of Starker is proudly displayed on the bar. The patio outside is pretty nice. They have a few TVs out there and itís very chilled-out. Unfortunately, the prices might prevent you from getting too comfortable.**men take note: they have a bit of a dress code, they do not allow any sandals. Women can wear sandals, though.

Official outlet for Starker Beer, which is Malaysiaís first microbrew. Good location in the area around Bukit Nanas, not far from KLCC. I admit Iím not really crazy about the atmosphere - itís new but it seems kind of old and not in a good way. But the service is friendly and they have microbrew. Happy hour is 5-7pm (2 for 1) and Sort-of-Happy hour is 7-9 (buy one, get one half price). This is essential information since the beer is RM30 for 500ml.
