Another quick stop. Actually it wasnít all that quick considering that my phone took us down the side streets to get here from Karl Strauss in La Jolla and there were plenty of red lights and roundabouts. Parking here isnít easy either. We got lucky and found something the next block over but be prepared to hunt for a spot. The upside is that this place is right by the beach so if youíre on the roof top you can look out over the water a bit, or else you can walk to the beach after you leave. The ground floor was completely full of college kids watching the games that were playing, which is fine I guess, so just know what youíre in for. Service was friendly but slow. The chocolate cake was good but the beers were not. It was to be expected. Prices are high too.

This is a beach-bar with the most patio seating Iíve seen in SoCal to maximize perfect weather enjoyment. They were completely full so I couldnít get a seat out there though. The beers were underwhelming. Very mundane and non-impressive. Seems mostly people coming here to drink swill and get drunk at the beach.

As we walked along the beach, my wife poited out the Sky Bar sign and I saw "Freshest Beer on the Beach" so my cousin and I went in for a sampler. We did not try any food but their Pacific Beach Porter and IPA were excellent.

PB Alehouse is surprising. The old Taylors blew. The food here is good, itís right off the beach, prices are about right for the neighborhood and the beer is surprisingly good. Much better than the old joint and this place needs some real reviews.
Def an alternative to PB Tap Room adn the food is better although it is just house beer. Which ainít horrible. Iíd def go here over Karl Strauss or the Oggiís anyday.

Great location, right on the beach. The food is decent as well. The beer, not so good. Almost everything they have is watery and weak.

While the ratings for this place were across the board bad, I decided to visit every place listed in the San Diego Brewerís Guild pamphlet. Howerver, upon arriving I found the place to be defunct. There was a sign in front that read, "Coming Soon Pacific Beach Alehouse." Iíll try the new place in a few months, but donít drive out there expecting to find Taylors.

Drove past this place maybe 3 or 4 times while I was visiting down in San Diego. The aura coming off the outside of this places just screams "keep driving, Liarís club is around the corner". But with many hours to kill on a Saturday before my plane took off, pouring rain, no parking around the liarís club, and being right around mission beach; I decided to bite the bullet. Inside it smelled like the treated sewage that runs into the ocean on some outlet streams. Island style wicker seats and tables with an old sleepy bar. There were some college kids and old people downing some pints and no one at the bar. Iíll bite! 5 beers on tap. The James Brown was the only one worth trying again. The hefeweizen was the worst Iíve ever had in my life. The service was dodgy and I didnít even want to think about eating food. Wow, this was worse than I thought it would be, and I had a very, very, very low expectation of this place to begin with.

The only reason I went here was because it was located ~4 blocks from my Hotel. If you are not within walking distance, donít bother seeking it out. 5 beers on tap all below average. They all seemed thin and watery with no real aromas or tastes. Sat at the bar, so canít comment on the food.
