Great brewpub in Oakland, weird area though. Great taps and decent bar food.

Visited numerous times over the last 4 years when in the area for Trappist or Beer Revolution.

The atmosphere can be a bit depressing as it’s quiet, dirty looking (just worn down wood furniture really), and on a quiet street. The house beers arent great either but ocasionally they’ll have a good guest tap.

I hate to badmouth a brewery but this is a stop I make once every year or two to see what’s new.

Visisted in Sep ’08 on a Saturday evening and once again a few nights later. Largely drank their own beers which were ok but nothing special. Good ambiance and friendly staff who I got chatting to. Only came here as we were staying at the Marriot a few blocks away so definately not worth the trip under the bay but if you’re in Oakland it’s worth popping into.

This place is almost depressing. The floors and furniture all have sort of an unfinished wood look to them. The place just seems dirty and dusty. The house beers are atrocious. The only thing that saves this place are the guest taps. Their house beers are also a bit on the expensive side, which is unfortunate considering their quality.

This appears to be your standard brewpub. Bar is to the right as you walk in. They had 4 house beers, and about 15 guest beers. The guest beer selection was pretty solid with Union Jack and Double Jack to name a few. I didn’t have any of the food, so I can’t comment on that, really. Service was decent. Bathrooms were clean enough, and they were downstairs. Their house offerings weren’t very good. It’s just a block from The Trappist, so if you want a more relaxed, laid back environment with non-Belgian beers, this place is worth checking out.

Ressemble à un irish pub d’aristocrate en plein jour, un peu plus chaleureux le soir j’imagine. Sélection correct à l’exception d’une impériale stout extraordinaire.

Interesting little stop near the Trappist. Knowledgeable bar tender, and a great group of people inside (surprisingly they all seemed to know beer pretty well). Prices were okay. Didn’t try the food. Odd mixture of music. Cask was VERY infected! The other beers ranged from slightly sub par to pretty decent (for one or two). Seems like a really old place. Guest taps were pretty good with both PTE and Blind Pig. There brewery downstairs is ancient looking. Kind of a novelty, but as far as I know this is the first Extract Brewpub that I have been to. Good beers with that in mind. Not a bad stop if you are in the area.

Quant older building just about two blocks from BART. I enjoyed the outdoor seating on a cold drizzly day (perfect if you ask me) and ran through their house brewed beers. Some of them were pretty good and others were just so so. The food was good, the atmosphere was good and the beer was too, I’m sure I’ll be back.

This brewpub is easy to get to from the main highway goign through Oakland. The house brews were interesting on paper, drinkable, but ultimately forgettable. The guest taps stole the show though and I would come back for those if I were to be in the area. The food was generic brewpub food; nothing very good and fresh, nothing bad either. The terrace is nice place to enjoy a few brews though, so I’d definitely relax there if I came back.

Old-fashioned looking brewpub with a solid selection of guest taps (DFH 90 Min. IPA, RR PTE, St. Bernardus ABT 12, etc) and decent house beer. I came by on a Saturday evening and there was plenty of seating inside and in the outdoor patio area. The Blue Whale Ale and the Columbus IPA were both very good. I’ll definitely try to come back for a sampler tray ($14) of all their beers. The food is standard greasy brewpub fare so I recommend sticking to the beer and dining elsewhere. The location makes it a worthwhile stop on the way to The Trappist and Beer Revolution if you’re planning a downtown Oakland craft beer crawl.
