Good atmosphere, even though it’s obviously a fake interior good buzz in mid evening and reasonable range of beers.

I truly enjoy this place: everything is right where it should be. Nothing special or fancy, but a good place to take a beer before going home. Or before going to work for that matter. Have their own beers.

Cosy place to sit in at. The selection consists mainly of their own Bruuveri labeled products, as well as Saimaan Panimo beers (some of which I haven’t seen much of elsewhere). Quite standard pub surroundings.

Old out-of-date review: Can’t really add much to what others have said. Occasional gigs, including musicians like Mika Järvinen, and Jukka Tolonen.
New review: Lively bustling atmosphere on amateurs nights. More self-brewed and Saimaa beers than before, which themselves are better than before. I go here quite regularly now. Expensive.

Listed as a brewpub, but do they really brew here? To be fair they only claim the stout as their own (although it also seemed to appear as Saimaan Stout at Helsinki Beer Festival). The rest of the "brewpub" beers are Saimaan brews (same ownership) - 5 on my visits, so this is an essential Helsinki stop if you haven’t had those before. Guest tap was Ayinger Winter Bock. Some imported bottles, including Daleside from the UK. It’s a cavernous place in a basement (from one side at least) built into the Kamppi complex. Although modern, they have gone for an old, woody look in the decor and fitting that works OK. I’m guessing that this place is aimed at a noisy younger crowd in the evenings but I only visited at quiet times in the afternoon so I can’t really say. It’s certainly not a beer geek type of place. The big screen showing continuous videos (but without the accompanying sound when I was there - the soft rock backround music in the pub was unrelated to the videos) is an irritation so I positioned myself where I couldn’t see it (difficult). The service was fine in so far as going up to a bar and being poured a drink promptly can be. And the staff didn’t laugh too much at my attempts at Finnish pronunciation. Didn’t eat.

A new place with not that many bottles available (and the prices are pretty steep). Pop in to sample a few of their own (or Saimaan Panimo’s) brews on tap, but for bottled stuff go elsewhere.

Bruuveri is located at a huge shopping mall, which means there are quite a lot of people. I cannot recall the whole selection, but it seems quite broad atleast on bottles. They ofcourse have their own beers on tap, which are quite good actually. Based on a few visits, the staff is not very eager to serve, altho they seem to know their beers. Considering the location (shopping mall), they assume you don’t know anything about beers, which might feel a bit awkward for a beer connoisseur :). Didn’t try the food. I would go here to taste their own beers, not for the atmosphere. It’s a bit of a difficult mixture of a true beer pub and a pub for lager drinking masses.

Panimoravintola Bruuveri is the newest addition to brewpubs in Helsinki. This is obviously good news given that there aren’t too many brewpubs in Helsinki (all together only 4). The restaurant was established in March 2006 and the first house beer (Bruuverin Stout) has been available since November 15. Panimoravintola Bruuveri belongs to the same organisation as Saimaan Panimo (http://www.saimaanpanimo.fi) and obviously Saimaan Panimo’s beers are on tap in the brewpub. In addition, there are several bottled beers available. The brewpub has a very central location in Kamppi shopping mall, which also includes bus and metro stations. The service was very friendly (based on several visits) and the food was good (based on couple of lunch time visits). There is also a patio for use during the Summer. Hopefully the number of house beers will increase in the near future because relying mostly on Saimaan Panimo’s products is not something I’d expect from a good brewpub. Nevertheless, the place is worth a visit.
