Excellent selection. Fantastic service. I popped in a second time to see if they had any new deliveries since my last visit and they immediately recognized me and showed me everything new that came in. The first day they were equally as intentive, making suggestions and helping me get my purchase to the car. A kick ass beer shop, one of the better ones I’ve been to. A must stop.

I used to go to school at Appalachian State, so that’s how I found out about this place. The store is small and disorganized, but there is a certain charm to it. They have quite a number of brews there, as well as wines and some other stuff. The selection is limited by the shop’s size, but they do their best to stock up on the most popular stuff (classy stuff, not Bud-Miller-Coors stuff), which leaves them plenty of room for some other gems. They also have a small, but incomplete selection of glassware, if you need proper drinking stuff. The guy in charge when I was there seemed very knowledgeable and was quite friendly, too. If you’re in a hurry, you’d have to count on an employee to find what you need, because much of their stock is so haphazardly arranged around the shop that it could take a while to find a particular brew on your own. However, if you’re like me and don’t mind a dandy little beer treasure hunt, the apparent flaws of the place will disappear the moment you find that awesome, rare beer in some shady nook or cranny. BTW If you go there in search of Rochefort 8 or 10, you may be out of luck, but don’t blame Peabodys: somebody’s been buying up all the stock that gets shipped to that part of the country. The guy told me, when I was last there (late June, 2007), that they haven’t been able to obtain any for weeks.

You can’t do better than this anywhere in the area. Helpful staff. Great/hard to find beers. Nice cozy atmosphere. Also nice to be able to pick up some chocolate, cheese and cigars if ya need it. Everyone who works there is very gracious, whether they want to admit it or not.

Boone is not a big town but it’s apparent that there are beer lovers in the area. Not a very large store and the beer competes with wine for space but I did find some fairly hard to find items and there are a few local gems. Staff was polite and humorous. You have to make a point of looking around every nook and cranny to find everything available. Absolute must if you’re visiting Boone.

This place is awesome. I felt like I was on a treasure hunt the entire time I was browsing. The shelves are just kind of haphazardly stocked with a good variety of brews. I found a few rarer things still in the boxes on a bottom shelf. Peabody’s has quite a few things that are difficult to locate in the area. Their own Appalachain ale is cheaper than Bud by the case, I had to pick up a couple just to give it a try. The staff was very helpful and curteous during my visit. Obviously this place is absolutely mandatory for a beer lover who visits little Boone.

I absolutely love Peabody’s! I am going to miss it when I move out of Boone. They have a great enviroment. The staff is always helpful and open to any questions you might have. But the best part of Peabody’s is the fact that they are always improving and expanding their selection of beer. I recently found a brew that I have been looking for that I didn’t think I would see out of New England. This place is great. Always helpful.

Peabody’s has steadily improved over the years. Everyone that works there is very knowlegeable about beer, and will to talk with you about it. It’s always a pleasant experience to shop there. Until recently, their selection has been limited by state law, not their choice. With the passage of the new law in NC allowing up to 15%, they are aggressively adding new beers weekly. It is one of the best beer stores in NC.

This rating is from my sophomore year at App., but they did hastle me about my (very) fake ID... still got the beer thou. The inside was very comfy, and dark... very wine oriented too. The selection was great (almost all cold) and not waterdown w/ bullshit. I think I bought a 60 minute IPA sixer, a 22 of Lost 8 ball stout, some allagash, and a Youngs Double Choc. That was like 2 years ago, so check em out. But then again this whole area is beer savey, so you won’t go w/ out.

Great little store nestled in the mountains. Store has a nice selection even though NC cannot enjoy the BIG beers. Brandon is very knowlegable and a great person to speak too when you enter the store. You wont be disappointed with what they have for where thye are located.
