100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 satan165 (101) River Grove, Illinois | September 25, 2010 today i had a peak beer experience at pegs. i drove down from orlando and arrived before 11:30 on a saturday, so i wandered around the beach and antique shops counting the minutes. then i hung outside the gate for 10 minutes with my notebook like a creep. finally i wandered in and sat down on the patio. i was greeted almost immediatley by asst. brewer and server christina and ordered what turned out to be one of the best beers ive ever had. the sun was beating down on me and lizards scampered at my feet. the foliage embraced me from all sides and conversation obsessed with beer and brewing began to spew forth from my mouth where christina promptly responded. i had some chips and salsa to prolong my experience and the chipotle cream dip had me addicted. i ran through their roster of beers and devoured the sweet bean burrito. christina gave me a brief tour of the grounds and it was difficult not to get emotional as the experience continued to become better and better. i left laughing to myself at my dumb luck for this place turning out as good as i thought it would be and then some. i may never rate a perfect ’5’ beer but this place is indeed perfect for me. i would fly in just to hang out here and then fly home. go to pegs immediately, i cant imagine what you would be disappointed by. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 maltdog (71) Colorado | March 9, 2010 What a gem ! Cozy, friendly, lively "cantina" with a splash of beach shack. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months. Had two of the three house beers (among others) which were excellent. Altogether there were 15 drafts and ~70 bottled on the beer list- all amazing, flavorful stuff too. Small menu, but our meals were great. One of the best beer experiences I’ve had in forever. Peg’s is a lot of fun. Go there ! | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 biggsbowler (12) Port St. Lucie, Florida | August 28, 2011 I want to move within a mile of this place, so I can walk home drunk every night. Within walking distance of the beach, Pegs has amazing food and beer at very reasonable prices. While they have a small, but nice bottle and draft selection, you want their beers, which are unfiltered and truly amazing. I love Cigar City, but I will always make sure to stop at Peg’s, when I’m in town. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 gkost (32) Tampa, Florida | May 30, 2011 Awesome place tucked away in what seems to be a little hippy village. Lots of outdoor seating, great family owned vibe. Excellent beer on tap. They had 3 of their own beers on tap a few guest taps and a lot of bottles. Service was friendly and welcoming. The bar area is small, but perfect. I expected good beer, but the food was out of this world. I recommend the tuna tacos. Unreal good! (Tip: check in with foursquare and get free chips and salsa) | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 nokomisfl (2) Florida | April 6, 2011 this place is a must see if you are in the area. The beer is outstanding I had the IPA one of best I every had in my life. The service was great the server was friendly and knew her beers. Food was great love the burritos. Again a must stop, I wish they had growlers love to take the beer home. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 hopscotch (198) Vero Beach , Florida | February 1, 2011 My wife and I really enjoyed our visit. The place is quaint and in a very cool, laid back Gulf-side part of town. Food was great. Service was fantastic. Atmosphere was laid back. Bottle list was terrific. Doug’s three beers were stellar. The rest of the taps were adequate. My only complaint would be that they don’t accept credit cards, but I knew this going in and brought my checkbook as they do accept personal checks. I didn’t pay any attention to the prices, so I have no feedback regarding value. A "must-try!" | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 drowland (142) Jacksonville, Florida | December 8, 2010 This place is fantastic. In my opinion, an absolute must-stop in the Tampa area. Let me preface that by saying I emailed them in advance to let them know I was stopping by, wanted to look around, etc. I got a very kind email back from Peg herself saying that it wouldn’t be a problem!
I arrived about an hour late, unfortunately, and was still welcomed with open arms! Christina, the assistant brewer, was waiting for me and my friend to arrive. She was as kind as she was cute, very personable, knows her stuff about beer (obviously), and was an all around good server as well.
A very cool place... like a lot of the businesses on this street (I gather) it’s sort of a house turned business and is pretty cool. I could see it getting pretty busy at times, but it was completely fine when we were there.
I already mentioned the service above. She was fantastic, and the cook was very kind as well. He came out and chatted with us a couple of times, talked about things around town, etc. Christina’s tour was very cool! We saw fermenters, the brewing setup, Palm Ridge Barrels, the works. She did stop short when I asked how the berliners were made though... sneaky devils.
The selection is solid considering their size. They only had 3 of their beers on tap, but she got 2 other kegs of their beers out to try, including the amazing Rare DOS... awesome! Lots of local and other bottles as well.
The food was... FANTASTIC! I got the pork mojo burrito, and it was amazing. My friend got the chicken version and claimed the same. We were stuffed full afterwards... of course we started with 2 bowls of chips and the 3 delicious sauces (the chipotle is to die for).
Beer prices are all average to normal, with the food being a little pricey (most entrees about $12), but absolutely worth it.
Overall, like I said, this is a must-stop. The beer is great, the service is great, the food is great... I mean... what else can you ask for? My only complaints are no growlers (not their fault) and they don’t take credit/debit cards... and those are pretty minor complaints. Definitely stop here!
| 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 kitschy (60) Nebraska | February 27, 2010 Lovely, lovely stop on our 20th anniversary beer tour. Bartender Sarah was very helpful. House beers are excellent, plus several taps of other great choices. Many bottles available as well. Food menu is simple and has a bit of something for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 papercartel (12) Tampa, Florida | March 14, 2013 Very nice restaurant/tasting room. Food was excellent, very fresh and a unique twist on mexican food. Beers were very good too. Their Imperial Stout was a 9 out of 10; could taste bourbon aging in it. Nice part of St. Pete just to walk around in if you are from out of town. Have about 15 on tap beers. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 jredmond (161) Manhattan, New York | May 17, 2012| Updated March 16, 2013 Finally made the trip to pegs while in Florida with Linh. Great, relaxing environment with incredible service. Extremely friendly, down to earth staff, plus great house beers and craft selection. In my opinion, the set-up of this brewpub provides one of the most unique and relaxing atmospheres I’ve come across on my beer travels. Fantastic and a must-see. |
