86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 BrewDad (408) Olympia, | February 12, 2006 The Pelican Brew pub is awesome. The setting in Pacific city is one that I am sure many other ocean front Brew pubs wish they could replicate. With the view of Haystack rock and the grandeur of the sun setting on the ocean this is one of the best places to put a pub. The food was awesome. We had a mixture of appetizers along with a main course meal. There was so much food we had to take some home. We had the Stack of onion rings which are served with a sesame seed sauce that is to die for. The rest of the food was also just as good. We had some great service and when the beer arrives we got such a mixture for the sampler tray I about hit the floor with amazement. 8 samples on the tray and wow they where all so good. This is a not to miss place if ever on the coast in Northern Oregon. Darren make one killer beer and the food was not too far behind. I will be back for sure. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Oakes (612) Savusavu, Fiji Islands | February 11, 2006 Stunning beachfront location, with a big rock on one side (in photo) and a cliff on the other. Waves crashing on the shore in a storm...awesome. Pelican’s beers are among the best in the Northwest. Didn’t eat. They had a four-pack taster of their winter Barley Wine...wow. A little too slick for my tastes but it goes that way. The location and the beer is enough for me, though. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 11026 (58) Alabama | July 22, 2005 Wow, what a view!! This is a tough competition between Elliot Glacier and Pelican for best view. I guess it depends on whether you are a beach or mountain person. Had some decent biscuits and gravy along with a sampler platter of beer. They only serve their beers, luckily most are quite good. Clean. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Reid (38) Salem,Oregon, Oregon | March 26, 2005 Went hre to day to pick up a case of Tsunami Stout for a trade. So thought I would at least go in for a pint.
The place was very very busy for early Friday afternnon in the end of March, this place must be mobbed on a summer weekend.
Anyway the building itself is most impressive and blends well with the breathtaking scenery.
Inside the bar area is large with plenty seats and tables, very nicelly decorated, looks like cherry wood in the bar with a dark stain, nice lighting.
The beer selection was good and all Pelican ,not a macro in site, which seemed to bother the dork sitting next to me at the bar, bitchin about there being no Coors light.
Did not have any food but it looked gorgeous.
Only complaint was the service..one rushed bar person was not enough, maybe they got caught of guard by the hordes of people?
Nice place for a pint and just to stare out the large windows apon the lovellyscene with Haystack rock looming large..beautiful | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 beerinmarch (118) Washington | January 21, 2005 This was such a great place, minus the service we got while we were there, man that waitress had to be on some kinda drugs. The brewery is right on the beach, the sand even lurks up into the parking lot, I guess they just finished the renovations and this placed doubled in size. They had all their bottle beers available as well as about 5 special brews on tap. Sampler plates are available as well as a few different size growlers if you wish to grab some brew for the road or the beach. This place is really worth the drive, great brew and an amazing view. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 batkins (78) Vancouver, Washington | October 21, 2004| Updated January 22, 2005 The renovation is complete. The place has doubled in size. Two large rooms for meetings or parties. A back patio with a fireplace. All looking very nice. As stated before, the best beers are the Tsunami and IPA. Food is good. View is incredible, it sits directly on the Pacific Ocean with an incredible haystack rock just off shore (look at the pic on this page). Great place, really busy during the summer. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | August 16, 2004| Updated January 22, 2005 This place has expanded since 2003. Big bar now, they even poured me free samples! Located right on the beach, you can sit outside and drink but only with a plastic cup. A little out of the way from the coastal highway, but worth it. Nothing needs to be said about the beer: always superb. Still a little touristy, but fine for the beer geek. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 BückDich (215) McCall, Idaho | July 6, 2004| Updated January 22, 2005 Very modern looking building, clean and impressive. Right on the beach, the point rock is massive at this distance. Inside is stock full of Pelican merchandise and smiling employees. The service was excellent. I had the Po’ Boy sandwich, which was excellent. Their trademark beers; Tsunami Stout and India Pelican Ale, are very impressive. Not sure why the other ones weren’t up to par with them. They didn’t have anything on cask and were out of 2 beers when I went. Overall it was a good trip, long drive though from lincoln city, but I think it’s definately worth the drive to see this. SIT ON THE PATIO IF POSSIBLE!!! |
