Probably the most underrated brewery, one of Pittsburgh’s best kept secrets. A great local brewery, great prices on drafts, good selection of German style brews, and good prices for their food. A great Oktoberfest stop, and if anyone if looking for something to do in the evenings, a great stop. They now have local bands on the weekends. Parking across the street, brick roads leading into the building (dating back to the mid 1800’s). Worth the visit and revisit!

Wtf is the deal with the tours? Help wasn’t incompetent, but actually misled me several times (presumably absentmindedly). It’s an awesome space, however, classic preserved German brick-and-mortar, factory district-style brewery with a cellar and everything -- but I still don’t see anything worthwhile in the beers.

I went on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty empty. Mostly business people on their lunch break. The service was good, but when I got there, there was only one server, but she was a fast as she possibly could be. It was pretty cool that you could watch the brewing process while having some food and beer, but the inside wasn’t anything special otherwise. A majority of the beers on tap were German style, but they had a few exceptions, like an Oatmeal Stout and a Pale Ale. The beers were all decent, but none of the ones I tired were exceptional. The lunchtime menu had some great deals and it was a lot of food. I did a sampler of 11 beers for $15, so that was a nice deal too. All-in-all, it was a solid brewery to visit in Pittsburgh.

Kick back and enjoy a beer, a pretzel, and some great takes on traditional favorites such as buffalo wing pierogies...Good stuff

Nice pub vibe with flags hanging from the ceiling and a view overlooking the brewery. I didn’t try the food but their beer was solid.

Nice place. Right near downtown with a good selection of beer. I was there in spring for training, and they had a picnic outside with brats, sausage, dogs, sauerkraut and BEER! Beer is good, ask for the "Rusty Trombone". Seasonal and this was the last keg. Friendly people and an overall good time.

A German-style brewery on the North Side. It’s not in a great area, although the immediate area surrounding the brewery is ok. It is located in a large brick building - there is a very quaint, European style outdoor patio and indoor seating. The first time I went there was a summer night and we sat outside on the patio. There was a musical group, complete with an accordian, and a group of elderly people who had gotten drunk by that point. It was a weird scene. I was also there during Oktoberfest, which was fun. Apparently they have a special tent with food and beer, but it wasn’t open during the particular time of day I was there. They often have local bands that are pretty good. There is an indoor and outdoor beer station. The beers tend to be hit or miss. Out of their regulars, the pilsener and the pale ale are ok (there definitely can be variation) and the seasonals are usually pretty good. Sometimes they serve you water from a cooler which is very minerally. The food is also German style, but not very good in my opinion. Overall, this brewery has a lot of areas to improve in, especially in regards to their beer (and food), but it’s still worth a stop. Definitely sit outside in the courtyard; it’s beautiful.

Been here a few times. About 6 beers on tap. Almost all clean and nice lagers. We had a wedding here and the service was amazing, they were very cool. The main area has lots of good German style food and bands from time to time. A very cool older Western PA place. I always enjoy visiting.

Neat space with a good selection on tap. It feels a bit touristy, but has massive potential. The service seemed pretty over it, but I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
