I must have hit this place on a bad day, because the beer selection was sparse. The wine selection was great, but not so much for the beer. The owner was friendly, and I did find the Goose Island seasonal bombers and some other local stuff. Iíll be damned if Rogue didnít alias my ass while here with their Japanese-writing bullshit ale. A decent place if you are at the Sandusky Great Wolf Lodge to pick up Goose Island beer.

The only place in Sandusky I found to pick up some decent craft beer while visiting Cedar Point while on vacation. Decent selection of American Craft beer as well as some Belgians. Beers from Southern Tier, Victory, Dogfish, Bells, Great Lakes as well as many others. Head straight to the back, past all the wine to get to the beer! Thanks to Rate Beer for helping me find this while on vacation!

Thanks ratebeer for helping us find this place. Was amazed when I saw it from my hotel room (Great Wolf). Had brought ratebeer directions and planned on driving.
Decent beer selection though would have liked more singles. Staff knew their stuff. Had Bellís, GLBC, Barrel House and others of interest to a NYer unable to regularly get those.

Visited this while on vacation with the family. Good selection of beer and wine in a pretty small town. Dogbrick provided pretty good directions in his post below. An older couple was working at the counter and was very talkative and willing to help in finding brews. I wound up purchasing just a GLBC 6 pack to get me through the hotel stay but the shop was quite nice.

Read the directions well, because this is not directly visable or has a large sign. Once inside it is a good location in an area that is primarily a tourist food, beverage and shopping area. Good selection and pricing for the size of store. If you need a brew in Sandusky/Cedar Point, well worth a visit.

Located right off Rte 250 in Sandusky (not too far from Cedar Point), the address is Milan Rd but look for Sartor and turn right, it is located in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking. Piccoloís is definitely an oasis in a fairly sparse beer area. There is a Meijer right up the street that carries some of the common micros but Piccoloís stocks a much better variety.
Inside it is obvious this is a wine store. 3/4 of the space is devoted to wine. However the back of the store has some floor space as well as a few coolers devoted to beer. One can find DFH, Brooklyn, Stone (it is pricey), GLBC (including the sampler), Sierra Nevada, Gearyís etc. Imports like Grimbergen and Chimay are available too. The selection is limited but they make do with the space allotted.
The owner of the store was very helpful and friendly, asking if I needed help and pointing me toward the cold beers right off the bat when I looked at the floor stock.
All in all you probably canít do better than this if you are in the Sandusky area.
