74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Kirk (1) Greeley, Colorado | October 24, 2006 I had a very good time watching football on the 7 big screens and drinking good beer. I enjoyed the IPA the most, I was told it won a gold medal in some big event. I sampled many of the beers and truely enjoyed all of them. They currently have 3 pool tables and several dart boards. The green chili was very good! |
64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Ernest (126) Boulder, Colorado | July 3, 2005 This is in the same building where Smiling Moose used to be. After Smiling Moose closed, it became known as the Shack, for about a year. Now it has re-opened yet again with the name Pitchers. About a half-dozen brews made on-site, with apparent guest taps of things like Fat Tire. About a dozen televisions surround you in the bar area, which is a bit much even for a sports bar. Surfboards and other Hawaiian styled decorations give a vague aloha feel, but there’s not much of it. Two pool tables in back, a video game or two. Haven’t eaten here yet, but I think it’s pretty typical pub grub type offerings. Beer is mostly average, not bad, not great, a little grainy in a few cases. The IPA was surprisingly good, however. The brewer informed me that several of them were a bit old and not quite at their best (they were brewed when it was known as The Shack, for which he brewed as well), so a repeat visit after a few months is in order. Overall, nothing particularly notable about the place, it’s a fairly generic American bar, but by the same token there’s nothing wrong with it either. I’d certainly stop in if I was in Greeley again. |
