Never rerated this. I’ll go by location... All of them seem to serve the same types of food, generally good portions for the price. The beer (light, amber, dark lagers, strong dark lager, wheat) is quite a bit above the Croatian standard, and though not thrilling, really appreciated here. The quality of the staff varies from place to place, and varies from very good overall to bad, a mixed bag in general. The Božidara Adžije location is the oldest one after the reopening as a chain of pubs. Slightly out of the regular way, but easily reachable in any case, never had any problems there, but I probably visited it the least. The Ilica location is the largest, easiest to reach and likely the best one in Zagreb proper right now. On the main street in Zagreb, close to the main square (one tram station and then 2 minutes walk away). It has a lovely patio, with live music (Irish etc.), several times a week. The inside is big enough and cozy enough, but you apparently aren’t allowed to be loud because the inside borders some guy’s bedroom and he tends to call the police if it gets too loud. Oh well. The service is amiable at first sight and you mostly (though not always) get what you order and fast. But a lot of them are crooks. Read the warning. I’d actually recommend going there anyway. They have free wi-fi too, which is cool. WARNING! The staff on the Ilica outlet of Medvedgrad is known to frequently add "phantom" beers to group bills. Happened to me on at least 4 occasions, the worst and the most embarrassing one with a large group of foreigners, where we ended up paying for 2 extra beers the guy insisted were ours (and they weren’t) while he removed 4 from the bill that he "realized were for another table" (right) after a looooong discussion. Completely shameless. ALWAYS buy giraffes or pay for each beer separately there. (-3 on the service) .

Quite centrally located, with a big and nice beer garden that shelters you efficiently from the not too appealing ambiente of the neighbourhood and the noises coming from a busy street nearby. The house beer selection is pretty standard with the exception of the rezane, while the quality of the house beer is upper standard, especially the lovely, well hopped schwarzbier. As for food, we had a really tasty pljeskavica with kajmak cheese, a Yugoslav classic.

Božidara Adžije location, which is a nice building with a large outdoor beer hall area (though it was too cold to enjoy the day I was there). Five of their own beers, available in a few sizes, and it appears now large 750ml swing-top bottles for take away. The beer is actually terrific, crowning thing to find in the Balkans. Food is Croatian pub food, nothing was particularly special but it was all decent. The huge mixed grill plate with potatoes and baked beans (which comes with a .5l beer) is actually a thing to behold, and tasty enough. A terrific spot and must-see if in Zagreb

German-style brewpub in the heart of Zagreb. The Schwarzbier was a nice addition to the otherwise standard selection. The food was good and moderately priced.

I just went to the one on Ilica and thought it was good. Beer was in superb condition, prices - especially during happy hour- are great, service was decent and I liked the outdoor seating in the back. Beer was not bad, though only four on tap. Would appeal to non-beer geeks foresure. Given the limited places in Zagreb, I would consider this a must.

Visited three of the 5 places, Adzijine, Ilica and the pub at the brewery itself, outside of Zagreb. Service was very mediocre, when we were visiting the place by ourself. According to one of our contacts in Zagreb, Medvedgrad was known for bad waitering. When we were there with one of the employees and the boss’ sun, there was of course no problem. At all places they serve all of their beers, at most of them also all the food, most of which is home made, even the sausages and the rolls! How fresh can you get it? Prices are very reasonable too and the beers are pretty much the best you can find in Croatia (see my beer ratings). So no excuse not to go there. Interesting fact: you can pick up their 4 beers (the 5th is a mixture of two) in 1L bottles at any of the pivnica’s. You have to keep them stored cool though. So take an electrical cooling box if you want to export them. ;-)

Went to the Ilica location. It’s a small beer hall and restaurant; convenient to the tram, but a bit hard to find in the back of a shopping arcade on the south side of the street. 5 beers available, all lagers; the 3 we tried were quite good. Also went to the small "Mali Medo" location on Tkaliciceva; beer selection was the same but they were loaded with diacetyl.
