Indifferent service in the Formaka/Hospoda; but beers and atmosphere were authentic and only locals were there. Quite cheap compared with the touriosty palces in the center of town. Did not try the food; but thye sausages being grilled over an open wood fire out front smelled wonderful. Best place to drink in Cesky.

We did not get to do a tour of the adjacent brewery, we just had a beer and a snack at the Formanka, where we were the only guests at 6 p.m. in the evening. Very high ceilings and a little dark, but cozy enough. Certainly a good place to try their beers on tap, among them a kvasnicový ležák, that are also incredibly cheap. Cannot say much about the quality of the coooked meals - our cheese and bread were fine though. We had some trouble accessing the place: starting in Latrán street, follow Pivovarská street to the end (Nové Město street only leads to a closed gate).

first of all, everything in the area s super cheap and great value. We had a private tour of the btewery, which unfortunately was not brewing at the time. Afterwards, complimentary beer at the brewery restaurant. Not so great food, but the eggenberg dark and light beer are really good, especially unfiltered. If you have a week in prague, definitely come to Cesky Krumlov and to the brewery!

This charming rustic and very old brewery has a small beer garden that contrasts greatly with the rest of the town where tourists are legion. Here, expect to find local workers that like to down a couple of pints after a hard day of work. The beer could not be fresher. While quite simple, 4-5 beers are offered, the surrounding air is fresh, the beer is bright and the spot is peaceful. A nice drinking experience and some of the pints I’ve drank the fastest in Czech Republic: a good sign I suppose. Despite speaking no English, I appreciated the barman coming to my table and gesturing me a "last call" sign so I can get a last beer as the sun slowly left the sky.

I drank the Dark Eggenberg after canoeing down the Vltava River. It was one of the best beers I have ever drank.

We stopped by for a beer in the afternoon. It was crowded and we didn’t stay for lunch, though the menu looked good. The kvasnicovy (yeast) lager was excellent. Friendly service, and that was before the manager spotted us reading the CAMRA Good Beer Guide to Prague & Czech Rep., came over to read the Eggenberg entry, and then gave us our beers for free!

Formanka: High ceilings, but nevertheless a cozy Hospoda with four, well kept, different brews on tap plus the average crappy czech food. Very cheap compared to the other quite touristy pubs in town. Worth a visit........

A bit remote compared to the centre of Cesky Krumlov, but fair enough. A small shop outside, selling their bottled beers mugs and t-shirts. Impressive building when we walk inside, high ceiling, charc-white walls. The restaurant was cozy (albeit a little empty when we were there), and they didn’t have their unfiltered on :o( Food though was very cheap and quite frankly, very good. We also enjoyed their two tap beers.

When I visited the restaurant was closed, only the Formanka was open (smaller restaurant next to the main restaurant). Extremely unfriendly and unhelpful waitors, I’ve never seen anything like that before. Although there were several free tables without reservations inside and outside the waitors refused to serve us lunch and behaved in such an unfriendly manner, which I’ve never seen anywhere before. Outrageous. Finally I managed to convince the barkeeper to sell me a glass of kvasnicové pivo (unfiltered lager only available here), which was lovelly. The food looked nice as well, but I didn’t get any. If you just want to try their beers try the cellar of the restaurant. There is a little pivnice with drinking locals and a very friendly woman serving good beer and selling sets with 4 different bottled Eggenberg beers. After returning home I complained to the managment, they answered immediately and apologised for the behaviour of their staff, so obviously it is not meant like that. The place is definitely woth a visit, as it is very hard to find the complete sortiment of their lovelly beers anywhere else.

I really liked this place. I thought Cesky Krumlov would be a bit of a dead loss beerwise, but was very happy to find it had a local brewery. Never got to do a brewery tour or eat in the restaurant for assorted reasons, but we drank the beers in the brewery bar and a bunch of other places in town. Place is pretty typical old-style Czech, which means it’s a cool place to drink. There was some kind of bizarre martial art-street fighting on the TV which impressed an immature mind such as my own. I’ve gotta say I’m really surprised the beers rate so low on this site. The 10% was pretty forgettable, but the tmavy and kvasnice (just the unfiltered version of the svetly I guess) were both right up there amongst the best Czech stuff I thought. Awesome town, pretty awesome brewery.
