86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 gnoff (256) Mölndal, Sweden | May 7, 2006 I’ve visited Pivovarsky Dum once, when I was in Prague for one week in May of 2005.
I will be going to Prague again in less than two weeks time and have booked a lunch and a guided brewery tour of the pub brewery for our group.
Last time I tried a few of their beers, such as the banana beer, coffee beer, sour cherry beer, nettle beer and one of their more "regular" beers.
Very nice as a home brewer to be able to taste wild experimental beers like the ones I try to make for myself. And they have an awesome selection and good quality of their beers.
Food is very nice too, and good sice portions of that.
The place is a bit pricy compared to many non-tourist places in Prague, but it’s worth a visit and I’d say it’s pretty much mandatory to visit it at least once when in Prague.
Can get quite crowded, so might be a good idea to make reservations or come as small groups (or alone).
Visits to the brewery is possible, but make resevations to be sure, specially if you want the guide to be able to do the tour in English.
They have opened a new restaurant with more than 170 different beers. The home page is in Czech only, but at least you can find the address so you can visit the place.

At first we tried to get there on Friday evening but it was totally packed. Second try on Sat noon was ok. Food was nothing special as it was partly made of normal supermarket frozen food (e.g. vegetable mix & salmon steak). They have a nice selection of their own draft beer. You can order a 8 x 1 dl sampler set which includes all of them. Very reasonable prices. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 JK (205) Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | March 27, 2006| Updated April 19, 2006 Very large selection for a Prague restaurant. Uncomfortable chairs in a cool brewpub. Large menu, but the beer is very expensive here and this was probably my most expensive meal in the city, but still reasonable by American standards. Service was friendly; the food OK. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 austinpowers (152) New York, New York | January 2, 2006| Updated April 19, 2006 I LOVED Pivovarsky Dum. Where else are you going to find Nettle Beer, Banana Beer, Vanilla Beer, and all those other weird flavors, not to mention Sour Cherry Beer. Very, very adventurous. I respect their effort. Although the beer themselves weren’t great, at least the place tried. Finding seven taps in Prague is a rare deal. The stench of unwashed people continued at Pivovarsky Dum, as it had everywhere eise in Prague - perhaps no one bathes on Christmas Day, as I was there on 12/25. Service adequate to good. Food was subpar - the dumplings with fruit filling were especially uninspired. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 tobias (3) West Chester, Ohio | September 3, 2006| Updated April 19, 2006 i loved this little brew pub. they had quite an interesting batch up beers. the champange beer what very interesting and quite refreshing. the banana cherry and coffee beers were all solid as was the bock. i wish they had the vanilla and nettle beers when i was there. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 ralphdot (12) Billingham, England | November 20, 2009 Great place with a good choice of beers, I had a Banana Beer with Beer Cheese to eat. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 slimchill (88) Austin, Texas | October 31, 2007| Updated September 15, 2008 Great place with wonderfully unique beers. Lots of (authentically) historic decor, family style seating, and good service. A must for Prague. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Theis (110) Frederiksberg, Denmark | May 1, 2007| Updated September 15, 2008 We came here two times. First time was an evening after dinner, it was impossible to get a seat so we stayed at the bar. Second time was at lunchtime, we got a table and something to eat. I had the Bohemian Platte. They have 8 taps. 6 with specialbrews, fx. blueberry, nettle... all a bit wierd.. but fun to try, luckely you can buy sampels, 10 cl. The last 2 taps they use for their light and dark classic Czech, they are good. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 downender (227) Bristol, England | October 7, 2008| Updated September 15, 2008 Visited on 24/09/08. The pale and a dark lagers were excellent, the best sampled on my trip to Prague. The service was efficient and the food very enjoyable - I really enjoyed the rabbit with spatzle. The place was packed and the prices were cheap - in terms of value for money, this was the best place in Prague. An excellent place to visit. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 OldStyleCubFan (15) Raleigh, North Carolina | May 10, 2010| Updated September 15, 2008 Easy to find off the 22 tram line. I like this place better than the Klub. Very large beer selection mostly of beers brewed here. You’ve got to try the Nettle beer....good for a change.... great Impy stout. A good place for pork knuckle. I think it can a little touristy |
