Carlsbad the town is cool, and the setup is very similar to Solana Beach. That being said, the vibe is less beachy and more corporate. I didn’t think the tap was quite as good also.

Cool place, easy to find in Carlsbad. 20 of their own beers and 20 guest taps. Quite a lot of seats, both indoors and outdoors. A small bottle shop nextdoors. A good place but not a typical bar or pub with all the pizza eating guests.

Open and spacious with tables as well as bar sitting area. Nice selection of house brewed beers as well as a few guest taps. Samplers/flights available. Very friendly service and a medium pizza with 8-10 samplers will only set you back around $40.

Really big place with a surfer vibe to it. Lots of big long tables and families around eating pizza. Beer selection is great and their own beers are very good. The service on the other hand is one brings this place down. They run this place like a factory and they seem annoyed if you order the tasters or half 1/2 pints (which is what we wanted to do as we intend on trying ALL the beers!)
In addition they the staff is quite surly and in a hurry to get you out. There are much better bars in the San diego area their pizza is pretty good, but it seems more of family pizzeria than a beer bar. Then again maybe thats what it is...

Busy lived in surfer feel here. Not a fan of the communal tables since you have line up to order food, and line up even longer to get beer, not fun. Give me a server. Made my way to a bar seat and it was the same thing. You shouldn’t have to wait so long in between beers. This place is set up for ticking with 2oz 4 beer flights, but they seem annoyed to do them pushing you aside while they help someone else first. They had 19 of their own beers plus some great guest taps. All their ipas were pretty excellent. The 7 stouts were not, don’t order them. Come here to tick some ipas and bounce. The food was ok, passable pizza but nothing you are going to come back from. I can tell every once in a while they put out unreal ipas and I’d come for that. Otherwise a bit underwhelming on service, food, and top to bottom beer quality.

Didn’t really have the impact on me that the OB site did. More upbeat vibe and bigger taplist but not quite as neighbour casual and friendly. Clearly no problems with the beer and food. Outside tables good for families. I wonder if the ratings are skewed by the very good bottle shop attached (which in fairness should be viewed as a single site).

Top draw establishment a few blocks (5 mins walk) from Carlsbad Village station (Amtrak/Coaster). PP Carlsbad is a medium sized venue filled largely with picnic and high bench seating and room for 15/16 folks around the bar where I Settled down for a 2 hour tickathon.
Couldnt believe how busy this joint was for 1215 on a Monday, perhaps only 40% full but not many spare tables. 40 beers on tap, 21 of their own (4 beer taster =$7) plus 17 guest taps (not available in tasting flights). PP house beers are solid, nothing top world class IMHO but the consistency is high, all weighing in at 3.5/3.6/3.7 for me on average.
Service was good, bar only, I just kept slipping the guy pieces of paper with my tasters of 4 scribbled on them. Guest beers included offerings from Left Coast, Alpine, Societe and others.
The pizza was top draw, fluffy dough, juicy toppings (pepporoni, artichoke and olives), great stuff, set pizzas or create your own.
Warning - I had hoped to combine this visit with a trip to the bottle shop but they didnt open till 5pm, i imagine this is different at weekends!
Overall a top notch venue - you Dont need a car to visit if based in SD, 50 minute train ride for $11 return.

The place is a big open room with picnic tables. Order beers and food at two different locations, but friendly enough. Some stellar beers on tap.

Final stop of our trip for the day, if you don’t count the bottle shop next door, is to Pizza Port for some dinner. Atmosphere was great. Tons of people inside, as well as out on the patio area, enjoying themselves helping to create quite a buzz. Quality was solid across the board. Food and beers were top notch and the space was well maintained. Service was pretty good. I didn’t have to wait very long for my beers and the food is self serve so that was on us. Selection was awesome, they had a ton of amazing beers on that I had quite a bit of fun trying. We decided to get our pizza to go since it had been a long day. We got the margarita and it was great but I am not the biggest fan of thicker crust but that is on me not them. Prices were reasonable so no big deal there. Overall this was my favorite of the two Pizza Port locations we visited thanks to their above average selection. I will definitely return next time I am in the area.
