72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 BückDich (215) McCall, Idaho | June 13, 2005 Came here for the Real Ale Fest. Nice open interior with a wooden home-crafted feel to it. Fairly unfinished but still cozy, nice selection of PP beers but boring other stuffs. Cool place. Didn’t try any of the pizza, looked good though. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 herbjones (29) Orange, California | June 13, 2005 As you move away from the Solano location things get a little more pointed to the masses imo. Bigger and more touristy this is where the fests are held. Still very much worth a visit in the hopes one of the excellent seasonal/special brews are on tap. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 DYCSoccer17 (275) Woodland, California | April 9, 2005 I liked this place more than Solana. Much brighter, larger, and more spacious. All kinds of cool surfboards and stuff all over the place. Definitely a California atmosphere. This place actually had a bar that you could sit at, which Solana doesnt have. I waited for quite a while before someone even acknowledged me, which kinda sucked. They had more beers on tap than the Solana location and the beers were more interesting to me. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 JCW (105) Cincinnati, Ohio | April 5, 2005| Updated August 23, 2008 Went on a Sunday, the place was packed and quite loud. They had some sort of foot race/fund raiser going on the Carlsbad Square so I don’t know if the crowd was typical or not. Loved the beer selection! I had Red Square Imperial Stout, HopSack IPA(100% Simcoe) and Pizza Port Wipeout IPA. Gourmet pizza were very tasty too! | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 MartinT (521) Montreal, Quebec | August 19, 2004| Updated August 4, 2010 That wonderful SoCal joyful surf crowd feel with an insane tap selection from the house brewer as well as the guest beers. Lots of strong beers of the menu, only in pint format though, which is too bad since you can’t drink that much and walk out. Thankfully the Coaster train is nearby, just like the Solana Beach location, so you don’t have to drive!! The pizza, just like other PPort locations, is simply delicious and utterly memorable. As creative and lip-smacking as this meal can get. I was told their Red Square Imperial Stout was a year-round brew too, which is pretty cool of them. Definitely visit this place if you are in San Diego or North County and have access to the Coaster. DO NOT take your car!! You’d regret it so much... | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 Jeppe (84) Ølbutikken, Denmark | August 2, 2004| Updated August 13, 2004 This place is cool as hell! Their beers are excellent (plus they have a good selection of guest beers on tap also) and the food is awesome! A really cool place to hang out and meet other beer geeks! When I was there I met people from Stone and Green Flash plus some brewery I don’t remember!! | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 BeerLimey (113) California | July 27, 2004| Updated May 26, 2011 Outstanding beers (some of the best in the US), very creative no holds barred with about 12 of their own beers, usually a cask and 3 or more strong ales. They also feature a few other quality micros on tap mostly from the local area. Pizza is excellent. Ambience is very casual, long benches, counter service, video games and juke box music. There’s a decent sized patio on the side. This is a bigger location than Solana Beach and San Clemente plus it has a great bottle shop next door. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Vac (38) San Diego, California | July 23, 2004| Updated January 2, 2007 I’ve heard so much about all of the Pizza Ports that I am so glad that I finally got to visit one. I actually visited the Carlsbad location to meet up with Jcalabre for a trade. Of course I hadto stay for a few beers and some pizza. I was very impressed with the selection of beer they had, both their own and other micros. It was hard to decide what to try. I was also impressed with their pizza. Coming from NY, I’ve had a hard time finding a decent pizza out here, but Pizza Port’s put that search to an end. The bartender on duty when I was there seemed pretty knowledgable and was very helpful when I was trying to decide what to have. I can’t wait to visit the other locations to see how they measure up. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 DrunkAsASkunk (40) Lynnwood, Washington | February 27, 2004| Updated January 2, 2007 The food is definitely awesome at all Pizzaport's. This is typically the site of the majority of the southern california beer events. The crowd is loud but enthusiastic. The beer selection isnt anything to sneeze at, but i imagine it could be better. Parking is usually the primary concern. Prepare for a nice walk! | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 unclebleen (17) California | January 13, 2004 Although a cool place I prefer the Solana Beach location for a few reasons: better brews, closer to home, and better guest brews. With that being said, this is still a great place to visit in San Diego County. As jcalabre mentioned, this is where many of the So Cal beer festivals are held. Although the menu is identical to the solana beach location, the pizza seems not quite as tasty...but still better than most places out there. Definitely recommended. |
