84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 miketd (124) Cleveland, Ohio | January 11, 2011 Same food and vibe, but they had a better tap list this time than Carlsbad. Great location right near the beach and a big, bright space filled with locals. Had a great lunch with a few new Port brews. Worth a visit even if you have been to the other Pizza Ports. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 pushkinwow (70) Ottawa, Ontario | July 25, 2011 What a great place. Went for lunch on a Monday. Was fairly empty but then filled up. Had 16 of their own offerings and another 15+ from elsewhere - good mix of stouts, IPA, DIPA, Hefe etc. Like the casual, family friendly atmosphere with picnic tables and the small arcade, not to mention the brew kettles and other equipment off in one corner. Food is mostly limited to pizza and its decent to good depending on what you like. Everything is pick up yourself with no frills but I like that. Worth a visit. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Terminus (288) Las Cruces, New Mexico | July 20, 2011 my 2nd fav pizza port location. This place is the 2nd smallest as well (bigger than solona beach). Has an awesome variety of beers and their house brews rock! Pizza was fantastic and didnt hurt that they had actually friendly waitstaff. A definate must if your in San Diego!!!! | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 GT2 (375) Jurupa Valley, California | July 13, 2011 My favorite of the Pizza Port locations, the OB Pizza Port is probably the smallest and located about two blocks from the beach in a quaint neighborhood. Small parking lot in the back. The feel of this place is just straight up beach bar focusing on unbelievably good pizza like the other Pizza Ports and of course a very large tap list 30-40 with about 90% being house beers and 10% being from Stone, Ballast Point, Russian River, Coronado, Alesmith. They have so many of their own beers on tap it can be overwhelming- a beer tickers paradise! You can easily get 2 full sampling flights of their beers and still not try them all. Getting the barbecue chicken pizza here is a must and better order a pint of one of their many IPAs to go with it. A really fun, laidback, local place. Pretty much one of my favorite beer places ever along with PP Carlsbad. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 cbkschubert (43) BFE, Arizona | June 30, 2011 I was lucky enough to find a parking spot in the Pizza Port parking lot. I’m sure if I hit the place during peak hours, I would have been parking in BFE. Parking is at a premium almost anywhere in SD. Anyways... The place had a good crowd, but there were still a few tables available. I ordered a pizza and a the sampler (only 4 per trip). They had a good selection of PPOB beers on tap with a pretty good selection of guest taps. No bottles. The pizza was real good. The beers was pretty good too. This is a no frills joint. You pick up your beer, food, paper plates, you name it. This place is worth the stop if you are in the OB area. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 Goodgrief (27) Middletown, Delaware | April 17, 2011 Went here twice on my trip to San Diego...what can I say? I love the place. The pizza is amazing and the beer selection pretty good. 15 house beers on tap...nothing spectacular but a bunch of solid beers. 25 guest taps included many goodies both local, other parts of the county and Belgian goodies. Servers were friendly and attentive. Many delicious pizza options. Just a cool vibe to the place. The interior is a bar that seats a dozen or so and a bunch of lined up picnic tables. Some outdoor seating, too...but it sort of faces a street, so I just stayed inside despite the wonderful April weather. Great value on slice and beer lunch specials. I had three pints and two slices of beer and got out for under $20. I’d definitely go back were I in San Diego. Despite other places having better/more beer and better food, this was my favorite SD locale. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 BiddleBrau (76) Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | March 6, 2011 Stopped in to check out the location in OB. Same theme as Solana beach but newer and ’cleaner’. Bigger but as the families started to come in I realized they did a great job to keep the same vibe. Pizza was just like the originals. For a nice place to hang in an open and spacious setting with a very SD casual atmosphere and super pizzas and brews, you can’t beat Pizza Port. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 wavers1 (40) Notown, California | January 31, 2011 excellent place for a brew. they have at least a dozen rotating taps of thier tasty brews on at any time; as well as 2 dozen or so guest taps from alesmith, ballast point, jolly pumpkin, green flash, allagash, a few belgians, and many more. the food is damn good for pub fare. still not excellent menu selections, but everything is done very well and goes great with the brews. dont be mistaken, not a place to come and eat just for the food, but does a great job at not making you have to go somewhere else for food afterwards. the place is bright, open and clean, and allows dogs on the patio, which is kept up very well with a driftwood theme. i brought my dog, there was about 1/2 a dozen other dogs on the patio, no issues. over all ambiance = 4, ambiance with a dog = 5. the portzel is very tasty, even pretzel haters love it! lol! the pizza is great, the slices are the cheapest way to go as 2 slices is more than a small pizza. no joke, and great prices on the slices. 8 is generous for service, which is at the counter only. but they do manage to get things out properly and promptly, so i am giving them an 8 since they keep the lines moving quickly. but this places pizza kicks russian rivers ass; hard. overall an ejoyable place for a non geek, and a very enjoyable place for a geek! i will say, they can only fill growlers of the house beers, which is a lil sad considering the selection. also, growlers of strong house ales are $30, so be ready. | 78 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 TimE (217) Tokyo, Japan | January 6, 2011 Can only compare to Carlsbad location. The service here was super awesomely good. Jason the bartender was very friendly and helpful. The beers were solid with tons of guest taps. Not as nice as the Carlsbad location. The atmosphere feels like a bland cafe. Very sports oriented. After the football game, half the bar cleared out. Pizza was solid, though nothing mind blowing. Like other Pizza Ports, loud and rowdy and can get very crowded. Visit off peak hours/weekdays. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 tokyogoat (10) San Diego, California | December 28, 2010 This place is as good as the time that you show up. if you are there at 7pm, its going to be a shit show, if you go at 4pm, its going to be a ghost town and you’ll have your run of the place. They have a ton of taps, supporting tons of other craft and import taps, and they are putting out some of the best PP beers out of this location (cho saiko is amazing). |
