94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 Nocardia (8) Little Rock, Arkansas | June 18, 2012 Visited with some friend for lunch on vacation. I am the only beer geek in the group so it was nice that this place has amazing food to keep my wife and friend busy while I ogled the list. The waitress was a little curt, but hell it wasn’t a big deal. She made some suggestions, but didn’t know what the cask on tap was or if they still had some. I ended up trying a stout and the Southrn Tier IPA on tap. Both were great and served in appropriate glasses. Nice change from what i am used to in Arkansas. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 raveskdr (7) Washington DC | April 25, 2011 Probably my favorite beer bar in DC. My value number is so high because of their insane Tuesday/Wednesday half off all taps happy hour. You won’t find that anywhere else in the city. Great beers, rare beers, great staff, great location. Love love love this place. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 kwoeltje (82) Manchester, Missouri | October 22, 2011 First time I’ve been to their new Dupont Circle location. Very crowded, but there’s a reason people are willing to wait. Excellent pizza and huge beer selection, including a cask ale. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 nbutler11 (301) Phoenix, Arizona | February 15, 2013 Saddled up to the bar for a couple hours. Loved chatting with the staff and chowing down on their pizza. Curated tap and bottle list. What’s not to love? I’m a fan. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 dbarnold (11) Bethesda, Maryland | July 7, 2011 great great place...like the G town location They have awesome drafts that constantly rotate and a killer bottle selection which takes advantage of DC’s kickass import laws. In a year you will get stuff from just about every top tier brewery here, regardless of geography. This place is a little better cause it’s easier to get there, plus they have the best bartender in the city. I always get great service there. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | April 27, 2011 This was my first meal in DC and I was very impressed. It was also my first introduction to DC’s insane beer prices. A 750 here runs $30 and up quickly, so we stuck with the draft list. That said, our waiter was awesome, helpful, and responsive. The drafts were properly served and delicious. Not mentioned on the menu, it is possible to get half pours of their beers. On top of the good beer service, the food was incredible. We had an amazing salad and a really solid four cheese pizza, with crust how I like it. This will be a perennial stop in DC from now on. | 90 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | August 28, 2009| Updated July 28, 2012 Sat next to the beer editor of Washington DC’s City Paper on the invitation-only pre-opening of the Dupont Circle branch of Birreria Paradiso. Has 12 taps and one cask, plus 180 bottles, well-chosen by Greg, the beer manager from their Georgetown branch. Same great pizza as the Georgetown branch. Bar and restaurant are all on one level, decent enough set up. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Best selection and prices in the district, and only a block fro the Dupont Circle metro. Easy to see why they call it Paradise! | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 3fourths (1083) Vilnius, Lithuania | August 21, 2010| Updated July 28, 2012 comfortable bar seating, friendly staff, talkative patrons, saturated with high quality taps and bottles. prices are high but this is a place where it’s worth it to spend a little extra. you simply have to afford yourself the pleasure. the more of these places that open the tougher the competition becomes, and that’s a good thing for us. bars of this quality should be standard in every major US city, but sadly that is not the case yet and we sometimes have to put up with conditions and experiences that we know are less than stellar. not here. quite honestly the friendly nature of human beings in this establishment, the lighting, design and decor, reminds me of birrificio italiano, which exists and thrives in the small italian town of lurago marinone, population 2,200. incredible. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 bytemesis (223) Sunnyvale, California | September 4, 2012 What an awesome place! Good pizza, but more importantly a great bottle list and a decent tap list. A pleasant way to spend an evening in DC. Waitstaff is pleasant and reasonably knowledgable, ambiance is lively and fun. Some of the prices were a bit high, while others compared to the bottle price at a liquor store in California. All were cheaper than at Birch and Barley | 90 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 19/20 Drink4Satan (29) Washington, Washington DC | November 17, 2011 This place, while a total clusterfuck, is outstanding. Amazing service, amicable hostesses and enthusiastic, knowledgeable bartenders. While there, I was able to try the Oaked Cellar Door and Oaked Stateside Saison. ReAle Xtra was on draft and SUPER fresh! Simple Malt Impy Stout was bomb. And the pizza....holy tits it was spectacular. Ordered a Quatro Formage with anchovies and mushrooms. Never had anchovies so fresh. Freshness is key here. Raging Bitch was on cask (and it needs to be!). The bartender was the man!!! Dude was actually the guitarist for Magrudergrind. Couldn’t believe it. Greg, the beer directer here, goes to lengths to put together an outstanding, tasteful, selective list that never fails to impress even the geekiest of geeks. GO THERE! |
