Tried half dozen world-class beers on draft that were new to me (Belgian and domestic, plus one from Japan), at happy hour (half price), with an understanding and knowledgeable staff (and okay pizza).
Thanks Mad Fermentationalist for recommendation)
Dad, we’re hungry! No problem. Dad knows where to go, there is a great pizza restaurant nearby (and of course craft beer!) Everyone was satisfied and the pizzas were really good. A bit pricey flight but I picked four great beers from OEC Brewing, Bruery Terreux, Manor Hill and Maine Beer. If it happens to be a next time, I will visit the downstairs bar too. Finally got to check out the Georgetown location. Main entrance on M Street, basement bar is by the side street around the corner. Only stayed in the main bar upstairs which is pretty small with no more than 5 seats, decent amount of table seating though. 4 taps upstairs with the rest downstairs but they’re happy to get you whatever’s on downstairs. Friendly service. Good selection of craft beer like the other locations, they were doing an Extreme Beer tap takeover on my visit for their Monday Night Beer Club event. Food is pretty much on par and identical with the other locations, same great quality pizzas. Value in line with the other locations as well, pricey flights at $14. Full pours (9-12 oz) during happy hour get a nice discount though. The Dupont location is probably the easier location for me to get to (and probably the better choice on a beer crawl), but this is nice if you’re in Georgetown looking for craft beer and/or pizza.
Best pizza I’ve had in DC. Nice selection of well-chosen American beers and strong representation of Belgian, Dutch, Swiss and French breweries. Beer manager Greg is very knowledgeable, and the staff is generous with off-menu selections. Do not miss this place if you visit DC.
Addendum: prices have gone up and portion sizes down, on both beer and pizza. Flights are now $14. Happy hour is still good value with half pice - well they used to be pints, but now "full" beers are 9 or 12 ounces.
Busy place in trendy neighbourhood. Hard to find parking spot. Paid parking nearby is very is pricey. Service was attentative. Very, very good list of bottles and taps. Pizza was 7+ 8-....Not cheapest spot but if you are looking for something special with food this is your spot.
Stopped in on a busy Saturday. Nice ambiance if a little crowded, but I sat at the bar and it didn’t feel rushed. Server was attentive and helpful. Nice selection including some stuff I hadn’t tried yet. The pizza was tasty, I couldn’t make up my mind, so the server offered to split it. I think I liked the one with roe on it best. Prices were DC prices.
I had a nice stroll on a rainy day around Georgetown and popped in for an afternoon bite and beers. The Panini Grosso was tasty and enjoyed a few brews on tap and one from the bottle list. Friendly and chatty bartender. It was only moderately busy on my visit so a steady crowd. Nice place.
Hung out in the basement area, which was a little cramped. Very nice selection, prices weren’t too bad for DC area, friendly service and the pizza was pretty good. If you can deal with the crowd this is a worthwhile spot.
Stopped in here with the venerable Mr. Travlr for a few pours. Unfortunately the beer cellar was closed, but the staff made some cellar runs for us so we could have access to the full menu. The tap list was pretty nicely diversified, featured some cool local exclusives alongside solid stuff from further afield. The bottle list was pretty great too, though the more eye-catching bottles definitely seemed to be priced so they’d stick around for a while. Overall, a great spot. Certainly the best option in this part of DC.
