76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 sonnycheeba (61) Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland | May 8, 2013 Cool brewpub in downtown portsmouth. Plenty of seating with some views of the brewery setup. There’s also a cool lounge/bar area downstairs with couches, shuffleboard, etc that is open sometimes. Great service, especially the brewers that provide free tours on the hour. Plenty of house beers to try across a number of styles and the flights also include the few guest beers on tap. Food was solid and all was at a fair price. Definitely a place I would like to visit again. Take the free brewery tour and you’ll get a coupon for 50% a flight! | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 lushawn (227) Massachusetts | April 20, 2013 Typical brewpub ambiance. some families. okay. kind of stale. Selection was disappointing. firestone walker union jack was the only hoppy beer available. zero hoppy beers from portsmouth/smuttynose? peculiar. quality of beers brewed at portsmouth brewery was very disappointing -all seven beers in the 2.5-3.2 range. uniformly boring. service was quite slow. not sure who’s fault that was. waitresses seemed busy, who knows. not a very enjoyable experience overall. nice company at least. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 rickhall28 (125) Denville, New Jersey | March 11, 2013 This is definitely my favorite brewpub in NH. When I’m driving north on I95 to Maine my steering wheel always tugs to the right when getting neer Portsmouth! This is a great brewpub featuring the fantastic Smuttynose beers. The food is great too and you can’t lose spending a day or two siteseeing in Portsmouth followed by a visit here. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 adamjackson (112) Lyme, New Hampshire | February 21, 2013 Review is for NOT KtG day. Really nice brew pub with a constant changing of both food and beers available. They’re small but do enough small batch beers to keep things interesting. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 bierkitty (13) Elysburg, Pennsylvania | September 7, 2012 A nice brewpub in beautiful downtown Portsmouth. We stopped for lunch while on a vacation to the Maine coast. The atmosphere was great. The submarine themed restrooms were a nice touch. We were lucky to be seated next to the brewery. Our entertainment was watching the brewer fiddle with valves and settings.
The food and beer selections were great and our server knew his stuff. We’ll be back the next time we are in the vicinity. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 radarsock (33) Massachusetts | August 3, 2012| Updated August 11, 2012 My personal favorite restaurant and bar in all of Portsmouth. Has flavorful, exciting, traditional beers on-tap and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and above all else, charming. American seafood at its best. Saddened that Tod had to leave, though. Downstairs, which usually isn’t open for the public by day, looks massively like the interior of a submarine, and it has a bigger bar with a pool table and dartboards. I’m all smiles when I have time to wander in. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 cfrancis (70) Ottawa, Ontario | August 3, 2012| Updated August 11, 2012 Great little town with an awesome downtown core that begs to be walked. Did a quick stop in to grab a pint and some beers to go. Awesome hospitality and great beer at a great price. Two bombers walked out with me for $11. Hope to be back. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 cstromberg57 (1) Manchester, New Hampshire | June 29, 2012| Updated August 11, 2012 The beer selection was great, food was very good and the service was excellent!! We were given a private tour of the brewery. Very happy with the Portsmouth Brewery!! | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Lukaduke (34) Portland, Maine | May 30, 2012| Updated August 11, 2012 Look for the big ole mug hanging out front ! Always enjoy stopping in there to order their sampler paddle. Usually they have at least a couple of beers that hit the spot. Food is pretty straight forward pub style but the service is always friendly and prompt. Hope to make it there for Kate the Great Day this year.... | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 Miamilice (1) Stowe, Vermont | April 21, 2012| Updated August 11, 2012 Great food at an affordable price. Solid beers and guest taps. Speedy service. Ambiance is awesome for a family or a date night. A must stop if you are in the area! |
