Right on Market Square. $3 cover on a Monday night? No live music, not sure why you have to pay to drink Amstel Light, Blue Moon, Sam Adams and Yuengling. Leave this one to the college crowd.

A popular bar on the market square with a decent beer list. It’s long and narrow with a stage at the back. There was music on when we last visited so, for the first time in many years, I’ve paid to go into a pub and had my hand stamped with ink that took several showers and hand scrubbings to get rid of. Having said that, the atmosphere was buzzing and the service was very efficient.
(Last visited 5 February 2014).

Great selection of rare beers, especially those over 6%. The atmosphere is great, but as Trappist said, it basically a hallway.

This is a decent place. They have a mediocre selection of regional brews and one of the best bottle selections in Knoxville. The absolute best thing about this place is $2.50 pints for happy hour with free, yes free, pizza from next door.

Went after Knoxville Brewers Jam and walked from hotel. Easy to find location in Market Square. Remodeled older building with bar on the middle right wall. Coolers of beers under bar and 9 taps. Freindly staff and where quick with a beer. No food but you can order from local shop and they will deliver. Good crowd during beer fest. Enjoyed the visit and will return when in the area.

Good shotgun style, downtown pub with nice selection of drafts, and one of the better selections of high ABV (6% and up) beers in bottles. Nice rooftop patio. No food, but you can bring in your own or order from nearby excellent restaurants. Noisy as hell with all close wood and brick surfaces, and gets pretty crowded after 7. Service is hit or miss. The place is pretty good for beer, but is really more about the thriving local and regional live music scene.

Very fun bar. Good music. Great "speakeasy" backroom to try to get into. Beer selection is about as good as it gets in Knoxville i’d imagine. Cool location

Named "One of America’s Premier Pubs" by All About Beer magazine, this is a newish urban bar with a focus on beer and live music. The place is small, so conversation is not really possible when a band is playing. They have an excellent selction of beer (over 6% included), and a knowledgible staff. Food, the last time I checked, was aimed more towards the lunch crowd and consisted mostly of box lunches and the like. A significant portion of their profits go the Historic Matket Square Foundation, which aims to preserve Knoxville’s downtown.

I avoid this place when they have a band playing, it gets very crowded. Decent tap list and as big a bottle list as you can get in Knoxville. Have always had good service. No food on certain nights is a little odd but they will provide a pizza buffet or you can just bring your own from somewhere else on Market Square.

With a few more taps this place would be one of the better ones in Knoxville. Good selection of beers, but food is not available (go down the street and bring it in). Can be noisy when a band is in and the place is full,
