A pretty homely place. Small though. Not many taps as other local bars, yet, good out of town selection that is rare for Knoxville. Also nice location being in the heart of downtown.

Right on Market Square. $3 cover on a Monday night? No live music, not sure why you have to pay to drink Amstel Light, Blue Moon, Sam Adams and Yuengling. Leave this one to the college crowd.

A popular bar on the market square with a decent beer list. Itís long and narrow with a stage at the back. There was music on when we last visited so, for the first time in many years, Iíve paid to go into a pub and had my hand stamped with ink that took several showers and hand scrubbings to get rid of. Having said that, the atmosphere was buzzing and the service was very efficient.
(Last visited 5 February 2014).

Went after Knoxville Brewers Jam and walked from hotel. Easy to find location in Market Square. Remodeled older building with bar on the middle right wall. Coolers of beers under bar and 9 taps. Freindly staff and where quick with a beer. No food but you can order from local shop and they will deliver. Good crowd during beer fest. Enjoyed the visit and will return when in the area.

Very fun bar. Good music. Great "speakeasy" backroom to try to get into. Beer selection is about as good as it gets in Knoxville iíd imagine. Cool location

Good bottle section, limited taps (less than 10) overall OK, not the best in town

Preservation was a welcome addition to Knoxville in general and market square in particular (if you recall the lack of anything after 6pm that existed 8-10 years ago). The pluses are a nice bottle selection and a great locaiton on the square for people watching. The minuses are too loud if bands are playing (great if youíre there for the music, hard to have a conversation if not). Kudos to them for bringing people (and good beer) back to the square.

I avoid this place when they have a band playing, it gets very crowded. Decent tap list and as big a bottle list as you can get in Knoxville. Have always had good service. No food on certain nights is a little odd but they will provide a pizza buffet or you can just bring your own from somewhere else on Market Square.

Nice pub... it does get crowded if anything is going on... I like it better if itís just an afternoon before anything gets going in town. Pretty good selection of bottles... taps are a little limited, but you can still get a couple of great beers on tap usually.

Good shotgun style, downtown pub with nice selection of drafts, and one of the better selections of high ABV (6% and up) beers in bottles. Nice rooftop patio. No food, but you can bring in your own or order from nearby excellent restaurants. Noisy as hell with all close wood and brick surfaces, and gets pretty crowded after 7. Service is hit or miss. The place is pretty good for beer, but is really more about the thriving local and regional live music scene.

The only thing really wrong with this place is how damned smoky it gets, but overall, one of the best pubs Iíve set foot in!
