I liked the gloomy, dim, dark furniture vibe. I didn’t like the smell of urinal cake. OK cask selection - but nothing very adventurous was on when I was there.

Another great place ... A typical example of a British pub , this place shows that the range of beer is obviously important but not all ... The Pride serves 4 regular ales with brewers gold my favourite but the atmosphere and the people in there make this place special .. open till very late on Friday and Saturday ..revisited on sunday 17th nov .. my opinion about this place is the same , there is only a good news to say, they have Always a truman’s beer on tap so brewers gold , ESB,doom bar , london pride and a ttruma’s beer

Trad old boozer off Brick Lane. Used to pop in regularly before the change in licensing laws as you’d often have the curtains pulled shut at 22.45 and be in till midnight which was a novelty for me in London in the early 2000’s! Beers are always well kept, 4 or so on cask, always something from Crouch Vale when I visit. Small L-shaped single roomer but folks often spill out into the street of a summers evening. Definately worth a visit if in the area or on a Brick Lane curry run.

A lovely old-fashioned pub in "Bangla Town" Carpet on the floor, open fire and a sleepy cat, that is what I call real British pub ambiance! We came early to enjoy our last cask ales before our flight home. Crouch Vale Brewers Gold was not a bad choice for a worthy ending for our London beer trip. A digression about the cat; you can see the same(?) cat on page 88 in "Londons best pubs" by Peter Haydon. The cat is a regular! (Visited November 17th 2012)

Ok pub if you are nearby. Few customers and a cat listning to Cliff Richard when I worked myself through " the line".

A great little Fullers pub and a very traditional Brit pub full of charm and local feel. Five cask ales, we had the guest ale named after the local Truman brewery. Located in a backstreet of the cool and lively Brick Lane area. We spent half an hour sitting by the open fire place enjoying our pints and the atmosphere (visited 05.11.2012).

We visited here Sat 20th October 2012 with Ang. Nice friendly little pub with a good crowd in tonight. The beer selection is small however it is a nice choice, we had Brewers Gold, in excellent nick however there was a touch of butteryness, not enough to not enjoy but enough to just about be noticed. Convienient for Brick Lane and also for Rough Trade East (if you like buying vinyl like me & Loz) Enjoyable proper pub, with good service, good beer, and a good crowd, whilst the likes of Craft, Cask & KItchen, Euston Tap, Rake, Brewdog etc will always appeal to the beer geek in us, I would always seek out a pub like this for a great atmosphere and just because this sort of place is our history. Great pub!

Not a great selection, but excellent place to spend hour or two in a pub that can be called quite brittish.

A superlative backstreet boozer just off of Brick Lane. Some great looking riff raff hanging out in front of the place. Inside is dimly lit with lots of bottles (full) lining the upper levels of the walls. There’s a TV, a piano, a very small bar, tables, chairs. Nothing too outrageous on tap, but the two I had were in good condition. Black and white photos adorn the walls, and there’s also plenty of brewery ephemera scattered about. Just super classic, this place. Worth stumbling in here sometime.

Just off Brick Lane and close to that bloody great, expensive covered market, this is a little gem to get away from the tourist crowds. It was full of locals with shopping everywhere on the Saturday afternoon I arranged to meet one of my brothers there, so still not away from the crowds, just a different crowd, thats all! Good quality beer, standing room only, mind the shopping bags, smokey, locals served first, but friendly enough, I suppose. This is what a non-British tourist would think is a typical London boozer, and they would not be to far wrong.
