Visited on Thursday evening, 25/09/14 around 8.30pm. The place was fair buzzing but Kenny and I bagged the last small table for two. Canalside view, up a gentle staircase, Arendsnest is narrow and moderate in length, decorated in wood and probably seating 30/35 people at a max. I imagine youíd seat another 20 or so on the canalside terrace.
The service was friendly but a little too relaxed at times causing a lengthy wait (by UK standards) to get some beer.
Beer is all from the Netherlands, 25-30 on tap and 100 or so bottles. One nice feature here is that they sell 15cl pours as well as larger ones, so ticker friendly. The selection was varied, beers from a good 15 or so breweries and wide ranging styles on tap.
Food is in the form of cheese, cold meats and nuts, but a good selection in each category (5 to 10 to choose from).
In all a nice atmospheric venue with a solid tap and bottle list.

This is my favorite place in all of Amsterdam, and Nienke is my favorite bartender in all the world! Excellent selection of craft beers (all Dutch), extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff, well priced, and the perfect setting for sipping on brews. They have tables outside by the canal, which is stunning during the summer, and the inside is cozy and warm all the time. Iíve struck up more conversations here than any other bar Iíve visited - the customers are all passionate about beer and friendly. Also, they accept credit cards, which is a nice convenience.

Great atmosphere inside .. quite small, but cozy/lots of wood.
The list of drafts available is posted on the chalk board. Service was a little slow when we arrived, but once an additional server came on it was great. Lots of nice Dutch options on tap .. overall a nice experience and we will be back later this week.

Lovely beer bar in one of the most exclusive parts of the old town. Pretty small inside but very cosy, with a clean, anrique interior. If the weather is fine you can also sit outside by the water. Our bartender was very friendly, helpful and funny. The beer selection is together with the Beer Temple the best in Amsterdam. Only Dutch beers, but they have every important craft brewery and also small ones I didnít hear of yet. Overall a must visit!

Wonderful atmosphere in this Dutch beer centric bar in the heart of old Amsterdam. Great selection of 30 draft beers and plenty of bottled beers. Service is great as well, bartenders are eager for a chat and knowledgeable about the beers they are serving. Though I slightly prefer Wildeman and BeerTemple selection-wise, this is a must visit when youíre in Amsterdam.

Deserves itís high rating. Fabulous selection of taps and bottles I needed to stay longer. Food selection is simple but itís just to help the beer down right? Try the beer soaked cheese. This bar is top of my list on all visits to Amsterdam. You must go there.

Visited in 2013. This is the place I would go to drink beer in Amsterdam if I only had to choose one place. The reason is they focus on beer from the Netherlands and I always try to drink local beer while traveling. Nice place, friendly bartenders and friendly crowd.
