Not the biggest of places, but still it didn’t get even close to full during the time spent here. Good selection of Dutch beers, with also a bunch of beers from quite new brewers (I think I got 6-7 new brewery ticks during my 4 hour stay). Very good service, and good knowledge of the beers served. A bit hard to figure out all beers they had, as the beer lists were pretty much on chalkboards on the walls, and then they also had a nice selection of bottles. This one got to be my favourite place in Amsterdam.

Classic Amsterdam beer pub started by Peter van den Arend and devoted to serving only Dutch beers as a counter reaction to Belgian supremacy in specialty beers before the Dutch beer revolution, which means they have an ever increasing range of beers to choose from these days. Cosy, old school brown interior, great selection including many La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged vintages and brews from new Dutch micros. Very friendly service, I had already met some of the staff at the BeerTemple (from the same owner) the night before. I especially like the fact that this is aimed at enjoying beer from a more ’classy’ point of view without becoming too elitist - the fact that they serve everything in wine glasses, as I tend to do myself when I taste beers at home, is something I can meet with great sympathy. Frequented by hordes of tourists of course, but had a nice chat with locals too. Recommended.

Smallish but nice place. Good selection of bottles and taps. The service was fast and friendly. We got there late afternoon on a Saturday and it was fairly crowded both inside and the limited outside seating. They did have offer sausage and cheese but not much else for food that I noticed. So we just stuck with the beer. Definitely worth a stop as it is easy to find.

Mysigt ställe vid kanalen. Vi fick plats vid bord ute vilket var trevligt.
Bra utbud av lokala mikrobryggerier. Trevlig personal.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and Saturday evening. Small place and both days were a bit too crowded, hard to find a place if you are with more than one friends. Nice dutch selection but not so special if you are living in NL, only that you can taste them on draft. Staff is OK, look and feel is rather traditional than modern. I just hate when the beer tap is in front of my face and hard to communicate with the bartender, so accidentally got another beer than I wanted to have.

A great place for beers from Dutch micros, especially on tap, although there a number in bottled form too. Can get crowded and rather busy at night so perhaps best to go during the day if you get a bit claustrophobic!

Visited the place twice during my visit. On both occasions the servers were very knowledgeable. Nice selection of taps, some very nice bottles of De Molen and La Trappe. Food is limited to cheese and sausages but the quality of both was very good. Charming location. Decent size samplers and fair pricing. Get earlier and take a sit at the bar.

Stopped in here later on a Sunday afternoon. It’s one of the only decent beer places open in the city on Sunday. It’s a somewhat small place with maybe 20 seats inside and about ten seats at the bar. They weren’t all that busy, so it was pretty easy to sit down and have a beer. This is the first place in my 5 day Netherlands visit that I found to carry Emelisse beers, so I had to have one. The bar tender working that day was very knowledgeable of the beers he had available. Decent pricing on most beers, but of course, I wanted one that was expensive. Oh well. Had I not been exhausted when I got here, I probably would have stayed longer.
