I decided to go to the Pig for dinner on my first night in Waterbury. I will never turn down BBQ and they have an amazing tap list so it was a no brainer for me.

Upon entering the ambiance it pretty nice. Lots of people all over the place eating and chatting amongst themselves. I snagged the last seat at the bar and looked over the tap list, that is when I knew it was going to be a good night. They have some amazing things on tap and I was happy to see they offered half pours so I could try more of them. The quality was pretty high. My beers were good, as was my food.

Service was good. I never had to wait for a refill or to place my food order and the bartenders certainly knew there stuff. The selection of beers, as I said, was top notch. 4-5 Hill Farmsteads, 2 Lawson’s and Heady Topper on tap. I would kill to have that selection at my neighborhood BBQ spot. As far as the food goes, I decided to go with the pulled brisket with a side of fries and baked beans. Beans and brisket were ok, I used some of their bacon BBQ sauce to make it better, and the fries were excellent with their smoked ketchup. Prices were a little high across the board. If they tried to charge what they do down here they would be out of business quick.

Overall a really nice beer bar with above average food, albeit a little overpriced. I will return when I am in the area.

World class. The food is phenomenal, as is the beer selection. Lots of great Vermont beer. Great service, very professional and knowledgable. Pretty good prices considering the quality. Good ambiance, clean and stylish without being sterile or pretentious. If you are traveling through Waterbury and are hungry for a meal with good beer, this place is a must-visit.

Visited on August 19, 2014 in the evening, no line up and space at the bar, for now. Weird feeling going there because the last time I went to that address (23 S Main St) it was call The Alchemist. But somehow you do get a bit of the same sense of the former, including 30 minutes after my arrival, line ups and lots of people at the bar. The tap list is fairly solid, mostly Vermont stuff with two of their own, I tried one and it was nice but not more then that. The food is great, a lot of meat and the price is not that bad. I had the Chopped Pork BBQ sandwich, delicious and damn messy! Next time I’ll try the Hush Puppies. I’ll miss The Alchemist, but mostly for the their own beer, in all a good replacement!

Visited on a Thursday early evening, the place was almost full. Impressive tap list, mostly of northeastern breweries. Half pours available. I didn’t browse the bottle menu much, but it seemed to have a couple good picks. Good service. Food was good but a bit expensive. Good times.

Stopped in on a Thursday for happy hour. Right on the main drag in Waterbury. Cool space, high ceilings, wood. Great staff, friendly, fast and knowledgeable. While we didn’t eat, the menu looked great and the chicken biscuits the gal next to us ordered made us jealous. Well manicured liquor menu with a list of interesting cocktails, including low alcohol cocktails which are an excellent idea. Solid tap list, locally focused with a few items not seen elsewhere. Everything is decently priced and all beers have the option of a full pour or half pour. Will definitely stop in again.

Comments: Top notch cocktails and awesome food, great staff, love the ambiance, beer list was incredible but it was Hill Farmstead’s anniversary event so that skews it a little. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Lots of nice local beer on tap. Food was very good. Prices on food and drinks were pretty high, but I did appreciate that you could get 1/2 pours for a little more than half price. Would not hesitate to visit again!

Beau restaurant un peu rustique et bondé. Service rapide, efficace et sympathique. Choix de bières en fût tout à fait intéressant, avec de bons prix. La nourriture est très bonne, notamment le burger et les frites cuites dans le gras de canard.

Visited on recent business trip in the area. Ambiance: This place is located in the center of town, solid brick building with decent length bar that hold plenty of patrons, has a solid gastropub feel to it with solid beer and whisky selection Service: Decent, bartenders were prompt and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. Selection: Common Northern VT shelf beers...literally. It just happens that those common beers were from Hill Farmstead, Alchemist, Mystic, Lost Nation, etc. Good array of solid beers from various styles Food: Food was pretty damn god but portions were very rough. A pulled pork sandwich was about the size of a McDonalds Cheeseburger. Don’t go hungry or expect to drop some bank on the food. Value: Beers were all roughly $7, which was slightly higher than normal but food was over priced for portions and sides were even worse.

Very good selection of beers. Not the most I have seen (maybe 15 to 20??) but all very good beers, and many very solid VT brews. Food was very tasty. Had a burger and fries, but was quite tasty. Other food looked great and others in out group loved it. Would easily go back.
