I decided to go to the Pig for dinner on my first night in Waterbury. I will never turn down BBQ and they have an amazing tap list so it was a no brainer for me.
Upon entering the ambiance it pretty nice. Lots of people all over the place eating and chatting amongst themselves. I snagged the last seat at the bar and looked over the tap list, that is when I knew it was going to be a good night. They have some amazing things on tap and I was happy to see they offered half pours so I could try more of them. The quality was pretty high. My beers were good, as was my food.
Service was good. I never had to wait for a refill or to place my food order and the bartenders certainly knew there stuff. The selection of beers, as I said, was top notch. 4-5 Hill Farmsteads, 2 Lawson’s and Heady Topper on tap. I would kill to have that selection at my neighborhood BBQ spot. As far as the food goes, I decided to go with the pulled brisket with a side of fries and baked beans. Beans and brisket were ok, I used some of their bacon BBQ sauce to make it better, and the fries were excellent with their smoked ketchup. Prices were a little high across the board. If they tried to charge what they do down here they would be out of business quick.
Overall a really nice beer bar with above average food, albeit a little overpriced. I will return when I am in the area.
Great place. Good food, with good prices. And the beer - great selection! Some real top notch beers with a variety of styles. Plus their own brews aren’t bad (the DIPA I had was really good). Overall a great stop for any beer lover. Busy though; get there early or wait a long time for a table.
Visited a couple of times. Nice place at 3 min from Hwy 89. Can be crowded during lunchs, especially in summer. Beer selection is great: The Alchemist. Hill Framstead, Lawson’s. They also have their own brews and other Vermont stuff too. Service is great, food looks awesome (but I never had a meal... next time!). A must-stop-place without a doubt.
This place is unbelievable. Selection was top notch, solid in-house brews, an unbelievable poutine, the bartender and head brewer were more than helpful, and the building smelled of brewing beer and smoked meat. What else does one seek in life?
This place was spectacular. We stopped in because a buddy of mine raved about it. Ambiance is nice. It’s a little small. But I love the woodwork and there are plenty of seats at the bar. The service was awesome. Dude was very attentive and we even got to talk to the head Brewer for a bit. He gave us some samples and talked about the beer just to talk. It was awesome. The food was magic. Poutine and chopped pork mac and cheese were consumed. Amazing. The selection was good as well. Hill Farmstead, Lawson’s, Almanac, and a bunch of house brewed beers that were good. The price was just what if expect to pay for the quality we got. This place is an absolute must!
Went there twice the same day during a beer lovers road trip with my girlfriend. Wil definitely go back! My Girlfriend just loved the casked version of the Piggy Brown, called the figgy brown, aged with figs and cinnamon.
We visited Prohibition pig for lunch on a Sunday and were very lucky to get the last table for two! The place has a bustling local vibe to it and was full of friends & families having lunch. They have 24 taps on offer which focusses on the most amazing local breweries, including their own. For us it was all about Hill Farmstead and Lawson’s. They also had Heady Topper and Focal banger, which is what most of the locals were tucking into. Food consisted of pretty delicious bbq. Service was attentive and friendly. It’s hard not to love this place. A must-visit.
Called here to eat and drink numerous times, during a week stay in Waterbury. Great food. The duck fat fries are delicious! Great beer, including lots of their own, which are pretty solid overall. Half pours available. Friendly staff. Good prices. Nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Came in late (9PM) on a thursday evening. Place was getting a little empty. We could still order some food. Nice. Bartender was super friendly. Super juicy burger, which was delicious. Selection again is amazing. Having a side by side in a pub of Heady and Focal Banger for 14 dollars... that’s decent! Loved the place.
