Small, cramped bar a little bit too close to puzzlís house for my liking. Long bar with stools so close to the back wall, it gets quite claustrophobic. Tap list was quality over quantity. Only 10-15 taps. Listed on a back mirror with childrenís magnets. Nice stuff, but almost impossible to read from an angle. Taps including local breweries I had not heard of before, Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier, Thornbridge, smoked and sours. No food that I know of. Bartender was nice, but oddly was convinced that Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier was bottled. I asked to see this bottle and it was Glazen Toren Lentebier. Um.. Pretty chill vibe, but wasnít blowing my mind after all day out at Torst. Clearly Iím spoiled.

Last stop of the night. This is one of those quality over quantity sort of places, sort of. They only have a dozen taps but everything was either odd or obscure. I tried a couple things including the Other Half Motueka Pale and the De Dochter Van Belle (neither of which were very good) and went with a glass of the Jolly Pumpkin / Anchorage collaboration beer which was pretty good.
The bartender was very friendly though he got a little upset at the couple that came in to just use the bathroom. I guess this is a common issue with the ice cream place next door. Since they donít have a bathroom available for customers those customers tend to walk next door, pretend to want a beer, use the bathroom, and leave. I understand the need to use the bathroom but they even left their garbage on the table. Classy.
If in the area Iíd definitely stop back in again. Who knows, I might actually be back in this area some day. If Iím in NYC again Iíll have to make the trip down to Paulaner and Advocate a liter of dunkelweizen.

We dropped in here thinking we would just have a drink or two before heading to Rattle and Hum and ended up just staying here. Decor is fairly dark, cool art on the walls and interesting little details all around. Bartender was great and super friendly, Iím sure it didnít hurt that he and Puzzl knew each other well but we got great service and conversation all night. He was super friendly and seemed to know his stuff. Taplist was not lengthy but had some gems and about half the list was stuff I hadnít heard of let alone tried so that was cool. The bottle list had some interesting rarities but as others have notes the prices are steep enough that you need to want to try it. It was pretty quiet on a Sunday night which was part of the charm for me. I suspect I would be a lot less enamoured of the small space when it is packed since there is not a lot of room to maneuver. As it was I was super thankful that a particularly noisy patron at the end of the bar left shortly after we got there. Regardless, this was likely my favourite beer experience in NYC. Will definitely be back on future trips to NYC.

Overall, nice place. Aside from there being only one server, who was busy as hell, and that being slow...He really new his beer and what he was serving. Selection was nice, however, there were three saisons on tap, out of 10 or 12. Not that I donít like saisons, but how about a little more variety. The inside was cozy and small, dimly lit by the huge paper domed lights. Framed classic tattoo art on the walls. I am pretty sure if I stretched out my arms, I could touch both walls the width of the building...but it was very long, and a little tough to walk past the bar. I looked at the bottle selection, and just saw how expensive it was. The draft beers were priced about average. If I am ever on the lower east side, I would stop in again....

Stopped by early on a Friday night. Very small place, maybe 12 seats at the bar, perhaps another 10 at tables and very little standing room. No food that I saw. The bartender looked at my wife and I and thought "noobs". Once we made contact with him and gave the right keyword, the service was great. If I could make one complaint, it would be that the service was TOO meticulous. All glasses are washed by swirling mineral water inside. I ordered a 12oz pour of Bunker Cypher and the keg kicked after pouring about 10oz and the bartender had to be convinced to serve it to me. Both the draft and bottle list are extremely well curated. If youíre seeking obscure and interesting items, youíll find them here. Prices are in line with other NYC spots, which is to say pricey but you need to calibrate your thinking in the city. I will definitely go back.

Very much a quality over quantity type place. Selection will be obscure one-offs that you wonít find anywhere else, hard to find special releases, and a handful of great locals. Almost never a wasted tap line. Prices are a bit steep, but more often than not, you get what youíre paying for, and thereís always an $7 pint of something local if you donít want to drop $10 on a 8 oz glass. Unfortunately, the space is cramped, so when it gets busy on weekends it can be a bit of a hassle. But overall, this is a great stop when youíre in NYC.

One of the best selections of any beer bar in NYC, albeit a bit pricey, the emphasis here is quality over quantity. Bottles can be brutally expensive (Spent $71 last night on two bottles). The bartenders are super friendly and knowledgable. The few events Iíve been to are pretty solid usually featuring new, up and coming breweries. Only complaint is how tight the bar can get. If you dont have a barstool and choose to stand at the bar, youíll be moving every time someone has to pass to go to the restroom at the back end of the bar. All things considered, one of the strongest stops to make if youre looking for beer destinations in NYC.

Very decent spot down in the East Village. Quite a small bar so not a good place to be unless you have a seat. Nice range of beers, mostly American with some good NY locals, some Belgians. Friendly bartender. An alright bottle range. NYC prices. A good option in this part of town.
