The Proof crew does tastings every Friday at the bar and ratebeer folks and other enthusiasts are welcome to join as long as you pony up some good large or small format bottles to share that aren’t readily available in Tallahassee. Make sure you PM jbruner before joining up for a tasting and get stuff worked out- DON’T drop in and expect to mooch off the rating crew. As for Proof itself, it is a large, dark, open space with large screen TVs for watching games so it is a sports bar of sorts but with a focus on craft beer. Large number of taps were sporting leftovers from various beer events so they were Stone and Dogfish Head tap takeovers...so hard to rate selection here though they did have Cigar City on tap before and a pretty deep bottle list that includes things like Sam Adams Utopias (also can be found at Fermentation Lounge but more expensive). Staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and a few are ratebeerians themselves so it can be quite fun having a beer bar run by ratebeerians of sorts. Cool vibe; didn’t just visit here on a random night and chill so my experience is atypical since I was visiting friends and joining a tasting group. Regardless, pretty cool that such a bar even exists that lets you have a tasting inside on your own terms. Sweet gig- a must for any beer nerds in Tallahassee and without a doubt in a safer feeling part of town.

UPDATE: Now this place has their own house beers and is a legit brewpub making this a much more interesting destination. Have tried two of their house beers and the quality is very high.

Nice bar. I was there too early in the day, but the owner(Byron) took me in and showed me around and even let me sample some beer. Nice chunk of taps, rotating selection and a really nice bar overall. This is what I would build if I were building a beer bar. They have lots of liquor too.

Finally made my way into the newest hot spot in Tallahassee. Very impressed. They have 28 high quality taps and well over 100 bottles to choose from. A few wines thrown in for good measure and a full bar featuring a lot of the latest premium liquors. Tap selection includes several Stones, some Weyerbacher, Bells, Rogue to name just a few of the American micros on hand, a handful of Belgians and a few English commons to round it out. All very reasonably priced - many of the the pints are $3.50 and some of the bottled bombers are only $7.99. Impressive array of proper glassware as well. Clean, modern. smoke free environment with plenty of room to move around and the music does not drown out your conversation. Don’t let the location near campus scare you away - this place is a must visit if in the area. Pickup a few bottles to go next door in the Liquor Loft as well.

Lots of taps with a very respectable selection of beers on tap and in bottles. Large flat screens provide a sports bar atmosphere. The 2020 FIFA World Cup was in full swing on this day and the place was very crowded and spirited. The owner, Byron, and his wife could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I don’t visit the panhandle of Florida much, but when I do, here I will be.

Nice little bar attached to a liquor store. Met up with some local raters from Tallahassee while in town. Very nice selection of beers on tap in bottles. I believe the only downside was the lighting, its a bit dim for proper rating. Service was excellent and the help knows beer.

Had the Tally tasting here. Great bar, although was very loud for the World Cup. The craft beer bar has college kids. Interesting. Anyway, the ambiance is like an upscale beer bar with lots of open space for milling. The service was Johnny-on-the-spot and was very cool. Great taps and selection including Jai Alai and Maduro from CCB. Seems like they have some of the best beer in Tally. If I was around Tally, I would hang out here.

50 taps and hundreds of bottles. Other rates are going to complain about parking and the college scene. This is somewhat true, but the fact remains that this bar has the best selection of the best beers available in Tallahassee. That is all that matters if you’re really into beer. If you don’t want to deal with a crowd, then don’t go to a bar in a college town at 11pm on a Friday.

The place for beer on tap in Tally. Nice location close to campus with tons of hotel options. Really nice selection for the area, you will not find these tap offerings elsewhere!

Proof is the best beer bar in Tallahassee. Thirty or so taps that are rotated regularly. They have done well to bring in newly available micros and hard to find one offs. My only complaint is the same as many others: it’s in the college area. After about ten o’clock I have to get out of there. Luckily (or unluckily) my opportunities to drink come earlier in the evening and at that time Proof is spacious and comfortable. One suggestion: open at noon on weekends. There is no place in town with good taps that opens during the day. Me and the old lady need a place to get some good brew before hitting the early bird special at the sizzler.

Nice bar, with a modern style when you walk in. The staff is knowledgeable about the 50 rotating taps, sometimes changing daily. There are weekly beer events, whether it be a limited release cask, a glassware giveaway, or special liquor release. Can get a little crowded with the college party crowd on weekend nights. And they now have beer brewed in house!
