Nice selection that ran the full range of beers. WIFI was spotty. Parking was easy we were there on a Monday just after lunch. Us and one other person. The beers were pretty solid no flaws and most done well. Growler fill area and some seating on the side. I would say about 20 spots if memory serves me. I liked the place the beer and the people. I would make it there my next time Iím in the area:)
A rather spartan, function-first, facility that has room inside for at least 25 people but seems to get most of itís business from locals getting growlers refilled. They do have bottles to go too. About 8-9 taps working during my visit.
Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
A small little brewery taproom a few minutes from downtown on the way up to the north end. They usually have one or two nice seasonals on. The best growler prices in the city and one of the cityís original micros. Worth the visit. Theyíve got some event space here, but itís not really a spot you hang around in. Get your beer and go.
Propeller brewery is located 10 minutes walk north of downtown and they have a pretty good range of opening hours. Inside the shop is rather small. They offer about 10 beers in total, both in bottle and also on draught for growler fills. You can sample any draught no problem at all. They had a few seasonals on my visit, including mild and imperial stout. Service was prompt, but low on banter. Very much a shop only and not bar. Good value thatís for sure, Their beer is not bad, but it surprises me that this place is so highly rated. I preferred numerous venues over it (particularly Garrison brewery and Stillwell). Fine, but I wouldnít go out my way for it.
Brewery shop with some merchandise on the left side wall. Retail counter against the far wall with a couple of coolers behind and a signage above stating availability and pricing. They had 8 beers in bottles when I stopped in and maybe the same number on tap for sampling and growler fills. Thereís a second room with a bar a very long table, for after tour sampling maybe? I would buy beer here again if in the area.
Halifax is quite hilly, so prepare for a hike to get to this place. Nice physical space, but itís a working brewery with a small conference space - not a place to hang out and have a beer. Strange dynamic. Good selection in bottles and available for growler fills, but donít expect to hang out.
Stopped in while in Halifax on our east coast trip. Parked right next door at a Office Max with a little security guy that was watching the parking lot. Office Max only if not I will have the police give you a ticket. So I had to bribe the guy with a Propeller RootBeer. Not only did they have a good selection of taps and togo bottles, they also had a good selection of there own sodas.
My personal favourite of the Halifax breweries (not that thereís a ton to choose from). Solid quality brews at a reasonable price and growlers canít be beat...if you can stand drinking that much of the same thing.
A cool little microbrewery, with a nice tasting room for tours, some taps for tasting, albeit, again, no special offerings. Some tchotchkes available for sale, and growlers to fill. Parking may be a problem dduring the week.
