Multi roomed, there is a hall like room closest to the room which looks great. The beers are served either through the hand pulls or straight from the cask. A really good pub. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 downender (227) Bristol, England | December 17, 2011 Visited July 2011. Pretty country pub in a National Trust owned village. We got to see the brewery (the sister of Halfpenny in Lechlade) sited in an out house and enjoyable a decent, reasonably priced lunch. Bar men were friendly and efficient and the beers good quality. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Fin (368) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | October 25, 2011 We visited here 22.10.11 with Jan & Charlotte, Craig & Stella & kids. My first visit here though I have had some of the beers before. A lovely country pub with suprisingly nice views as you approach the place. In a very nice village only just in Oxfordshire as it sits very close to the Wiltshire border. The beers were offered either on handpump or on gravity and the choice was of three brewed on site, along with a cider also produced in the same village. Recently voted top pub in the South Central area and which suggests that CAMRA would suggest that it one of the top 16 pubs in the UK. It is a very nice pub, though in an area where you have the Shoulder of Mutton and Royal Oak in Wantage only 8-10 miles away it has some strong competition on the doorstep. |
