Two beers vom Fass and five bottled beers according the menu. Promotes a local feel where you are allowed to smoke inside in one of the two roomed café. A few chairs and tables outside overlooking the main street.Ok service by the table (visited on a Sunday afternoon, 29.07.2012). |
70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (561) Columbus, Ohio | March 23, 2011| Updated April 4, 2013 (Visited 04/2009): The Madar Rathaus Cafe & Pub is located in the town center of Melk not too far from the Melk Abbey on Rathausplatz. Easily accessible by bike or on foot, and it appeared there were places nearby to park as well.
The interior is small with wood tables and chairs and a short bar. There is a decent sized patio which is where we sat.
Rathaus has 4 beers on draught from brewers such as Kaiser, Gosser, Starobrno. They had a Radler as well. As for bottles there are around 10 from Reininghaus, Wieselburger, Puntigamer, Schladminger, Kaiser etc.
Service was pretty good on a weekday afternoon. The server was prompt with our drink orders and with the bill, which was appreciated since we always seemed to be in a hurry on our trip.
Overall Melk is likely not a beer destination but it is good to know that there are pubs sprinkled around the area that carry decent beers from the region. For that reason it is worth a stop. |
