College town type bar with the best burgers around. Really, it’s worth a stop just for the burgers in my opinion. Beer selection - decent bottle selection, good prices. Draught selection - not the best, but always with one or two great beers.

I usually stop in here before classes when it is not packed to the gills with undergraduates drinking cheap swill. Last time I visited Hopslam was just on and very good. The selection tends to cover a few typical beers but there is always a suprise or two waiting. The food is respectable and on par with most other bars. Parking can be tricky - you may end up walking a block or two as there is not much in the immediate area. Still if you need a combination of food and beer this is the best place in town to stop.

This place was very good and it surprised me a bit. The tap selection was outstanding and had great range of styles. Service was only so so but the food was above average for a bar. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Kent.

First stop for Tara’s birthday, big tap list sorted by price, everything from Bud Light @ 3.25 a pint to Epic IIPA @ 6.25 a glass. everythign in between as well, I enjoyed some All day IPA and Willoughby PB Cup Porter, others enjoyed conways Irish ale and guinness. Our server was great, joked with us and had a good time, crowd was minimal on a Wednesday at midnight, and prices were perfectly in line with college town. Neat little place and the food smelled great.. they even had hopslam in bottles cold.

If you're in Kent, and hungry, this is the place to go! Great bottle selection. Upstairs taps always include Arrogant Bastard. Downstairs - Brooklyn IPA. Seasonal selections: Bigfoot, Oberon, Great Lakes Christmas. If you see Amanda, tell her that Chloe's dad sent you!

Was here last night for happy hour. A nice atmosphere and pretty good service at the bar. Just ordered chili cheese fries and some beers from their draft and bottle list. About 20 or so beers on tap ranging from Magic Hat #9 to La Chouffe and a decent bottle list but nothing spectacular. Probably the best Kent has to offer but pales in comparison to other brewpubs. They did have free wifi though which was nice.

Typiccal college bar with the menu to match. Lots of different bottles of beer and taps, cheap menu for food, and a decor that clashes between old time neighborhood bar and college bar. Upstairs is a little more upscale, but I’d avoid going after 10:00 PM on Friday or Saturday nights from late August to early May, unless you like crowded college bars. Great burgers!

Been a while but I used to go here from time to time with some buddies in Kent. Good bar, especially considering the crazy college atmosphere. Nice selection. Recommended.

I made the mistake of making my first experience at this place on a Saturday night during move in weekend. The 19 year old checking ID’s at the door took about 3 minutes per person for inspection. I realize that it’s a college town and there are a bunch of under-age types who would love to get in and you have to be careful, but come on!!!! Once inside, the mob scene turned me off. So did having different product available only upstairs or downstairs. Decent selection and the staff was amazingly fast and accurate considering the circumstances. I’d check this joint out again, but during a less crowded time.

I miss Ray’s place... it was one of the best places to go to in Kent. Lotsa good beers (yea, they had the cheapo college ones as well), but for a college town to cater to the good beer drinker is nice.
