Nice addition to downtown Wausau and just a mile south of Athletic Field, home of the Woodchucks (a college-level wooden bat baseball team). Brewpub has a large bar with ample seating, and there are separate indoor and outdoor dining areas. Seven taps were dedicated to Red Eye’s brews (with excellent printed menus and chalkboards to explain them) and three guest taps were also available. It looked like there was a fair top-shelf liquor selection, too. All sandwiches ordered by our group were well-received. Waitstaff very friendly and knowledgeable about their products.

Great spot. Industrial vibe, extremely friendly staff, and high-def TVs over the bar. Cool bikes hanging from the ceiling, for which I got the background story (ask if you are there). Pizza was flat-out killer, and the beers were very good.

Went here on a ski trip to Granite Peak. The place is located downtown Wausau, looks pretty new and up to date. Big roomy place with one big flat screen TV over the bar. Six tap of thier own brew, no guest taps. Selection was Stout, Brown ale, Dubbel, Belgian Wit, and a special Scotch ale. Love the sampler option, pirce ($4 for 5, but the server gave me 5 for $5) and the size of them 4oz sample was a steal. All decent with the dubble and stout being my fave and the scotch and brown ales being the least likable. Taht day they were out of the IPA but was able to find it at the ski lodge anyway. The food was really good, love the burger and liked the pizza (a bit soft on the crust). The service was excellent, the server screwed up the pizza order but quickly took care of it by giving us the screwed up pizza for free and the pizza we ordered for free as well. Total for 2 pizzas, a burger , 5 sample brews, and a 12oz Dubble was just under $20. Really enjoyed this place, would have like to see a bigger selection of brews but for the location this place is great.

Friendly wait staff right from the get-go and a warm and inviting interior. They only had seven beers on tap, but most of those were very good and I’ll take quality over quantity every day. Some of the best brews I’ve had at a brewpub in Wisconsin. Food menu is a bit different, but different is good in my book. Parmesan crusted tater tots were damn good! They’ve recently expanded their menu to include more than just pizza. A hidden gem that’s too far from home, but I plan on returning soon.

My husband & I stopped here on a driving trip, so we didn’t get to sample more than one beer each. The beers were beautifully executed, but the selection was pretty limited. We had a choice of 5 beers, two of which were wheat, and the next seasonal was also a wheat. Since wheat is our least favorite type of beer, we chose a dubbel and an IPA, both of which were really nicely executed. The real find here was the food - basically just a pizza place, the pizza we had was the best we’ve eaten outside of Italy, and the salad was terrific! Our waitress told us that they try to shop as much as possible from the local farmers market and other local sources. The quality and care taken with the food was obvious. Service was outstanding, especially since our server knew her beers. A really great place!

Stopped by for dinner on a Sunday evening when I was in town skiing. I researched restaurants and beer in the area beforehand and made a point to go here. It was not busy so we had great service. Great simple menu with not so simple food. Everything sounded and was delicious. Not your typical "bar food." Food presentation was also nice. Only beer available was a few from the brewery, which was ok for us, but if we lived in the area I think we’d want guest taps. Pretty bright and open setting with no unique interior design. I would definitely go here again.

I actually visited this place last January. When I was there on a weekday night, the place was pretty dead. The beers were good though, and the staff was friendly. Certainly worth visiting if you’re in the neighborhood.

Visited for lunch on a Sunday in February as part of WinTour 3. They were cleaned out of two of the five beers on the menu and the food menu was a bit sparse, but the service was friendly, the food was good, the beers were good and the atmosphere was pretty neat too. Side note: they told us where to go to check out their "competetors." I love small town brewpub culture.

I love this place! The beer menu is kind of scant but their Imperium double IPA was amazing. The food was also great. Our service was wonderful. The set up of the place is as if they’re trying to be more up scale or modern yet it is open and relaxing. The music was not too loud and was right for the environment. If you’re in the area you should definitely pay this place a visit.

FIRST VISIT: Slightly hard to find as it is just off the main drag, and Wausau’s downtown has quite a few one-way streets: nice, clean, minimal interior with a small, well-kept patio seating area outside: food menu isn’t particularly extensive but is certainly delicious and offers a variety of choices that are far superior to basic pub fare: beer menu isn’t extensive either, but what’s there is interesting. I had a great time at the Red Eye Brewpub, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s in the area. My Cowboy panini was dynamite, and the wood-fired pizzas looked great. They sell samplers that are about twice the size of a normal sampler glass for $1.50 apiece, which I thought to be an excellent deal, and growler fills were $9. The beers ranged from slightly above average to great, and the brewmaster seems to be very interested in taking risks and keeping a rotating selection. Actually, I’m quite surprised to see that this place hasn’t made it on the list here yet as there was a sizable crowd there for a Friday at 2:00pm, but I guess they did just win the best undiscovered spot award from the local paper.
