A nice village pub with four taps offering beers from the local area.
Of the four pubs in Hawkshead, this would be my second choice after the Kings Arms, which is much busier. I suspect that this is where the locals come if they want a quiet pint in a less bustling atmosphere. The main room is long and low with banquettes upholstered in red and a red carpet. There are dark beams and a wood panelled bar, a small room at one end behind glass, shop-like windows and a dining room at the back. There’s also a patio to the side and, like the other pubs in the village, accommodation is also available. The service was friendly.
