46 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 1/10 OVERALL 5/20 oyamac (3) Michigan | January 25, 2013 I only go here if I absolutely have to. The service is awful. There is only one person who knows their stuff (I believe his name is Paul), the rest of the staff doesn’t care and misinforms their customers.
I was looking for a rare-ish beer recently, and had gone in and called throughout the week. I was told the estimated date of delivery and that there was a two beer limit per person by Paul. I called day of delivery and was told that the shipment had arrived with the beer. When I arrived, I was told that I could not get the beer because my name was not on "the list." Not once in my whole interaction with Paul or the rest of the staff was I told about "the list," or it’s necessity to purchase the beer. The manager made me wait 30 minutes in the store until Paul got there. Another employee even told him to call Paul, but he refused. When the he finally arrived, he then, for the first time, told me about "the list." After making him go through "the list," it turned out there was one left unaccounted for (keep in mind I waited in the store for 30 minutes for Paul to look a stack of paper that any other employee could have done, but didn’t).
I ended up paying $3 more then at another shop in the area, and even $1 more then their sister location.
Needless to say, I am extremely underwhelmed with this store. Yes, they have a good selection of beer, but I would much rather spend my money at any other place in town then here, unless they are the only option.
They really need to rethink how they treat their customers, because they have a lot of work to do to regain my business. Stay away unless you can’t find it anywhere else! | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 bagalagalaga (3) Indiana | January 1, 2013 Very nice store, my favorite place in Rochester to find new beers to try. Very good variety of 6 packs, 12oz singles, and a pretty huge selection of (pricey) 20+ oz singles. If you can find the same beer somewhere else in town it will probably be more expensive at Red Wagon, but if you want to find something new it’s the best. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 mikem409 (161) bloomfield, Michigan | January 6, 2012 little pricy but they have a huge selection of wine and beer. great service stayed open late for me . | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 19/20 papsdatank (6) Michigan | July 14, 2011 The store is extremely clean and well kept, pretty good atmosphere. I have no complaints about the service, I haven’t really needed them that much because I usually know what I want, but no complaints there. The selection is nothing short of outstanding, everything I want is there, sure there’s a bias to Belgians but that’s not a bad thing. This place is a bit pricey but I’ll forgive due to the selection. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 RudiNicole (77) Michigan | April 28, 2011 Really nice place, visited this afternoon for the first time. Was actually expecting to a much smaller beer selection, so I was excited to see such a great selection. Oddly enough I felt like they were lacking on the local beer (Michigan) front. I walked out with a Dogfish Head and Shiner Ruby Redbird. Giant selection of beer, liquor, and wine. Easy parking, and nice and clean inside. Would have liked to see more beer out of the coolers, and a bigger variety in the build your own 6-pack selection. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 19/20 nefarious (8) Waterford, Michigan | April 17, 2011 Went here last night and is one of the better places to find brews....the best thing about this place is that it is well organized and very clean.....also all thier beers it seems are fresh....nothing that is coverd in dust from a two year old batch. not a huge selection of beer but very good.....still pales in compaison to Oliver-T’s......i never pay attention to prices, cause if they got what i’m looking for ....or something unusal or desireable...thwn hey its a good deal especially for the beer hunters. but over all one of the best I have been too. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 boogernose (2) Michigan | February 2, 2010 First store in the area that I went to to get my beer fix. It’s fairly close to where I work, and with an excellent selection I find myself going there quite often. The staff is always friendly. A couple of times they’ve given me a discount or even a free item. That’s always nice! But not all is great here. The prices are a little on the high side. I usually find better deals at Champane’s. Also, the main beer aisle, while nicely done with RB and BA ratings next to most of the beers, is cramped. It’s a pretty tight space. I have a hard time squeezing my cart through when there’s other customers. But with the excellent selection and staff, I find myself ignoring the cons and just helping myself to some great beer. They also do nice gift baskets. Definitely stop in if you haven’t already. There’s also a Red Wagon store in Troy. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 arybicki (3) California | October 5, 2009 Excellent selection. Being in town from out-of-state, I needed some help and got solid recommendations. Sure, I could have picked beer I am familiar with, but I can do that back home. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 dmschefke (47) Macomb, Michigan | May 7, 2009 A nice selection, staff is friendly and helpful, but not all that knowledgeable. Prices for the most part are on the higher end. Most in fridges, but some out. For the area, a pretty decent place. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 demitriustown (5) Sterling Heights, Michigan | April 10, 2009 Really nice selection. Service is great. Everytime I go in there I have at least one employee ask me if they can help me with something. Selection is excellent. They have a lot of singles and sixers so go wild. Foos is not applicable, because they don’t have any. Value is alright. Prices are a little higher than most just because they are located in Rochester. Overall, I like to go to this place every once in a while. Not my go to place but has a great selection, knowledgeable staff, and all round nice place. |
