70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 11/20 jrallen34 (271) Chicago, Illinois | April 20, 2013 Tickers paradise in Sydney, 12 taps + another 10-12 bottles. Everything was solid, but very few stand outs. Service was exceptional. I’ll be back for sure, one of the better places in Sydney. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 jonnyguns (12) , | December 10, 2012 beers are ok here not much selection mainly lagers and bitters. the extra strong bitter was the closest thing to an IPA that i was after. food was pretty good here too. staff were nice and across the road down an alley way is an awesome place called baxter inn which the barman recommended to us. (Baxter Inn was awesome had an iStout there so enough said) | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 halfbaked (24) , | November 9, 2012 Beers here used to be the best thing eva. Not sure what happened but now it is just good. Atmosphere is pretty good, relaxed, various seating, not too loud. Not open on Sunday, wierd. Food is good but not cheap. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 myrvoll (1) Trondheim, Norway | October 6, 2012 Just as much focus on the food as on the beer, but now worries - both were great. As a part of their menu they provide "tasting planks" where four small dishes are paired with four beers on a small plank. The planks comes in seafood/meat/vegetarian and cheese varieties.
In addition to the meat plank, which had an Octoberfest theme with German food and beer, I tried their Special Strong Bitter. Beautiful, full bodied with heaps of hops and a grapefruity aroma. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 ltdan546 (19) | August 11, 2012 The biggest thing I love about brewpubs is how fresh the beer tastes. The Redoak was no exception. Their bock and porter were excellent (and paired nicely with my sausage and mash) and the hefeweizen was one of the best I’ve ever had. Much more a Brasserie-style place than a typical pub. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 jdpeebs (16) Sydney, Australia | May 8, 2012| Updated July 22, 2012 Good location in the city for a few great beers after work. good service and great food, but a little pricey. Overall a great place too go and enjoy some great beers. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 Luu777 (13) California | October 28, 2011| Updated July 22, 2012 Excellent selection, especially for Australia. A bit crowded, especially during happy hour, but if you can get a place the service never suffered and the bartender always had time for a chat.
Most of the beers come from one local supplier, and I must say his brewing skills are excellent! | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 16/20 hawthorne00 (32) Melbourne, Australia | July 5, 2011| Updated July 22, 2012 Brightly lit, mirrors, pressed metal ceiling and stripped floors - perhaps overly keen to emphasise that it’s a Europhilic brasserie and not a hose-down-the-walls Sydney bloodhouse. Beer prices range from reasonable to hold-my-sides, with most things I wanted to drink sitting at merely fairly expensive even for a nice place in Oz. Tasters seemed to be offered to all comers without having to request them and the staff were friendly - at least on the quietish night I visited. I can only imagine them being quite so eager to tell you about the awards they’ve won due to much of their clientele needing to be told they’re drinking something good. But the beers _were_ good, and so was the food. | 54 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 10/20 fletchfighters (41) , Australia | May 30, 2011| Updated July 22, 2012 Great location in the CBD. Otherwise worth missing.
Overly lighted and very sterile. Service can be brilliant and can be unhelpful. Want to buy a glass from them good luck.
All their own beers and some vintage stuff from them. Can be good and can be awful.
Food is very average but better than some other beer places in Sydney.
No value in their bottle prices. Silly is the word I would use. $30 for a 280 ML bottle is shocking. Tap beer prices are a bit high.
My last two trips to red oak were not good and will not be back. Wanky attitude and do not show an attitude that customers come first. Can always look at all the awards they have won though and be told how great they are.
| 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 ndon (52) London, England | February 13, 2011| Updated July 22, 2012 Decent beers, right in the city. Barstaff seemed uninterested and were a bit rude to our group. Otherwise good. |
