This shop is something of an upmarket version of the traditional ’corner shop’. Through the back there is a reasonable sized wine/beer cellar. The selection is not huge, I’d guess 100-150 beers, but what they have is generally good. On my visit there was Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, St Bernardus, various decent belgians, several german/czech lagers, a few american and canadian beers (including stone and dogfish head), ciders and a selection of lager type beers from around the world. Reasonable collection of british ales, a lot of samuel smiths.

A fantastic delicatessen, just off the main coast road, between Newcastle and Tynemouth, A wander through to the back of the store reveals a large room dedicated to good beer and wine. Great range of UK bottled beers, an increasing number of US micro bottles, plus a good range from Europe and around the globe. In the last year, mini casks from local brewers have been sold (usually Wylam and Durham breweries), along with glassware for a few Belgian beers. An absolute treat and the best in the area by a long way.
