Last stop on a recent pub crawl through MSP. L-shaped room with an upstairs loft. Old-style bar and excellent service. Beer selection is excellent. Good mix of high-quality local Minn. brews and classic Belgians, and many others. Did not eat but the menu looked excellent too. Definately worth a try!

Happy hour isnít quite as good as it used to be when republic 7C first started up, but still a good option. Very reasonable food choices and a good beer selection. Very nice location overlooking the corner of Lake and Hennepin.

Best place to go for beer in this part of Uptown, however I prefer the 7 Corners location. Nice selection, however this place still reminds me of last place "The Independent." Stay away on the weekend gets packed and becomes more like a night club. Staff doesnít really know anything about beer. Decent food.

Interesting setting on the second floor of a mall, but quite a bit of beer on tap that was nice. Prices were in the $5-6 range before tax. Service was decent though not overly friendly. Great location in uptown and I would come back when in the area again.

Went here because they had a crazy beer in a firken. We had visited the other Republic and were very impressed, so we figured this was worth a visit. A disclaimer is that, although it has the same name and owners, this is VERY different from the other Republic. Itís in a mall and it has a very different crowd (not in a good way). Anyways, the firken beer was amazing. The second beer we ordered was great. The bartender was SLAMMED, and, even though he was nice, he couldnít say more than "what do you want" without falling behind due to lack of a barback. We then got an infected beer. It was so bad I almost spit it back up on the bar. We let the bartender know, and he took a sip of a sample and told us "that is how it is supposed to taste". It was f*cking terrible. We tried the same beer the next day at a different bar and it was definitely much better. Check your tap lines and your staffing schedule guys. This is a definite SKIP if youíre just visiting town.

It has the same food menu as the first location, and more or less the same beer as well. Still a great happy hour. Th old Independent spot is remodeled and nicer, but still retains that dark ambiance from the original location. They brought a guy over the from the Herkimer who seems to be running the bar, or at least bartending and he knows what he is doing. In terms of quality, this is one of the top three beer bars in uptown with Muddy Waters and the Bulldog, sake brewpubs aside.
