90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 MBrausen (9) Minnesota | January 12, 2012 The beer selection here is pretty good and offers a variety of styles. Sometimes lacks some of the tried and true beers I like to see, but still very good. The food here is just amazing. It would be hard to turn down anything on their menu. Burgers are top notch. However, the price is high. $8 for a 4" round smaller patty, comes with salad, fries are extra. Not something I would pay every day. Much better deal on Happy Hour ($5 burger). Well worth it then. Well improved interior since it was Sgt. Preston’s a year ago. Really like this place. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 JorgeLee (71) , England | May 13, 2013 Very nice bar, well designed interior and patio space at the front. Large and nicely varied beer selection, flights available. Food cheap and tasty. Service friendly. I visited Sunday night so it was quiet, but all in a pretty awesome beer drinking venue! | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 steeleliver (4) Minnesota | January 27, 2012| Updated April 15, 2012 During happy hour, republic is hard to to beat. $3 for any American made pours, and cheap food as well. Outside of happy hour it isn’t as good of a deal. Rotation is pretty good, although it could be a bit better. Food is excellent, and priced reasonably (yet again especially during happy hour).
If you go between 4 and 6, it’s pretty hard to beat. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 nsquishee (21) Richfield, Minnesota | June 6, 2011| Updated May 19, 2012 This awesome new spot opened up in the spring 2011. They have a very cheap happy hour from 4-6 PM every day of the week which features $3 domestic beers (domestic = US craft beer, not macro). I had a full pint of Fulton Worthy Adversary Imperial Stout for $3....need I say more.
UPDATE: 5/19/2012- Republic now has more than 50 beers on | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 bytemesis (214) Sunnyvale, California | October 30, 2012| Updated May 19, 2012 Nice place with a pretty good taplist, right across seven corners from Town Hall Brewery. A ton of locals, as well as other midwestern and west coast favorites. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 deyholla (200) Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | December 1, 2012| Updated May 19, 2012 Right across from the Town Hall so figured I would poke my head in. A nice selection of local taps. A large bar with a nice feel to it and plenty of seating on my visit. Bartender was great and gave me a sample of a few things before I made my purchase. Didn’t sample the food on my visit. Prices seemed a touch steep, but nothing out of step. A nice stop especially considering the location. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 porlopp (13) Minneapolis, Minnesota | December 9, 2011| Updated May 19, 2012 Definitely a step up from the former inhabitants. Their food is solid, and their beer selection is a step above average. They have great features regularly, and have had very limited availability kegs on more than one occasion. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 maekchu (31) Hirakata, Japan | August 23, 2012| Updated May 19, 2012 Bar and restaurant in the Cedar/Riverside West Bank area. Lots of polished wood, high ceilings. Spacious outdoor seating area, too. 50 taps: very good selection of local and Midwest regional brews. Four ciders. A few imports. Good, limited menu: small plates, salads, burgers, other sandwiches, and entrees. I went there twice in two days, and the service was pretty good, even when they were busy. They seemed to know their beer. Only one bad beer, served muddy and tasteless (maybe dregs of a keg). This place has the best selection and atmosphere in the neighborhood. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 tyler_mn (67) SLP, Minnesota | August 7, 2012| Updated May 19, 2012 With their recent expansion of their draft systen, Republic currently has 50+ taps. Their lines and glassware are always clean so you can always be assured you’re getting quality pours. They move through a lot of beer so the list is seemingly ever changing. Sampler flights offered as well. Some of the best bar food in the metro. Huge patio that never seems to get over crowded. All staff is well-trained and knowledgeable. Food kicks ass too. Without a doubt, one of the best bars in MSP. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 ElGaucho (207) Minnetonka, Minnesota | August 7, 2012| Updated May 19, 2012 I’ve visited this place a couple of times since it changed from Sgt. Preston’s. I love what they’ve done with the beer list. One of the best beer-related happy hour values in the Cities with $3 U.S. craft beers as well as three 8 oz pours of anything for $10. Large patio in front that overlooks the bustle of the 7 corners. Bonus that it’s right across the street from the Cities’ best brewpub, Town Hall. |
