Within view of Lime Street Station on its south side and opposite the St John’s Shopping Centre, this is an atypical 20th Century Wetherspoon with a very familiar design with a familiar traditional pub look. It’s actually fairly appealing as it has plenty of space on three sides of the bar with a low ceiling roof that creates a cosy feel coupled with the carpets and low lighting away from the large floor to ceiling windows on two of these sides. Can and often will get busy.

Fairly standard Spoons pub, a good place to meet up and start off from in Liverpool, I went on a saturday afternoon and it seemed to be full of stag and hen do’s with lots in fancy dress

Busy on a Sunday morning serving scousers, Liverpool and West Ham supporters (like me) a few hours before the match at Anfield. A very ordinary, quite large, Wetherspoon not far for the Lime Station in central Liverpool. 10 cask ales, eight of them from the Spring festival menu. More than just polite service. I got what I came for; a decent traditional English breakfast and a sample tray of festival beers (visited, 07.04.2013).

Visited in januar 2012 on our pre-winter-ale-pubcrawl.. A large, typical JDW pub, with 12 handpumps. Great variety of beers, both from local breweries and the larger ones. Very busy place.

A very busy Wetherspoon in the city centre of Liverpool. Traditional Wetherspoon beer selection with some microbrewery beers (2010).

A vast Wetherspoon’s pub with 12 interesting hand pumps. The Richard John Blackler stands on the site of the former Blackler’s department store. Although it’s next to a busy bus terminal and isn’t an attractive place architecturally, I thought it was pleasant enough and one of the better ‘Spoons. We were there on a Tuesday lunchtime when most of the customers were shoppers or workers there for a coffee or a meal. The barman noticed our rather different focus – i.e. on the beer – and was very keen to talk about what was currently on offer and, as he was the person responsible for choosing what to buy in, his enthusiastic quest to seek out something new and interesting.
