Stopped in there a couple of nights ago when I first arrived in Phoenix with a friend. Typical chain BP atmosphere. Service was decent. Had a couple of appetizers that we’re really anything special, nevertheless were tasty. Had the Amber Ale which reminded me of the Sam Boston Ale. Prices were about right for the area. I’d proly go back if I was out here and in the neighborhood again.

They changed their happy hour menu which WAS the best around. $3 food and had it until 700pm instead of 600pm like most places. Now, that menu has changed, but it’s still a good place to take the family and have a couple of solid brews for cheap. The staff is really solid and friendly.

Typical of the chain. Good service, good food. Fun beer but nothing truly amazing. Good place to take the family and still drink a few different brews.

Brewmaster was Rob Rodriguez? Anyway, the service at the bar was nice and the bartender was very friendly. They were cleaning their tap lines when I got there bright and early. There was aromas of brewing, 80’s and 90’s music, and TVs with sports. Cask IPA was the first in many months and was tapped last week (10/18/07).

I’m a regular here once a week. Very great service if we have our regular guy. Otherwise kinda spotty. Decent beer, and I really like the food

Went for dinner. Pretty crowded, service not great (they didn’t have any interesting beers on tap and waitress didn’t know the Red wan’t on tap till after I ordered and there was no seasonal/speacial brew). The beers were uninteresting and the food was too.

I spoke with brewmaster, Charlie Billingsley, after going to AZ’s Strong Beer Festival. One of the beers that I had at the festival was one he brewed. He was very happy to answer questions I had about this beer and invited me to come to the restaurant to have some beers with him. My family and I went for supper one night and we all enjoyed our meals. Charlie was there and spent some time chatting with us. I agree that the 5 or 6 beers that each Rock Bottom in AZ have are more along the average line. However, I have had several that Charlie has done as special brews. All of these have been great! Make sure to stop in if they happen to have a special or seasonal beer on tap that Charlie brewed. It will be worth the stop!

beer was very poor - but the place was a clean open friendly place. food was really good. great place to bring a girl who ’thinks’ she likes beer.

Even if you’ve gone beer-less for months and happen to run into this place for whatever reason, it’s not worth it. Worst beer in town, and even their [boring] seasonals, are hardly palatable. I ordered the winter spiced ale and also tried the stout. Both were horrible, watery and fizzy. And the fact that it took 50 minutes for my beer to reach the proper temperature WITH my hand around the glass the entire time, only compounded how abysmal this place really is. Beer is served FAR too cold, but what else would you expect from Rock Bottom? There wasn’t anything available on cask when I visited, and I don’t remember seeing a hand-pump on the bar, but that’s not to say there isn’t ever one featured. Not that it would be interesting. Doesn’t (can it??) get much worse than this.
