Two blocks south of the Friendship Heights metro station, across from the TV antenna on Wisconsin. The beer manager here actually knows his stuff, and they stock a mix of quality US micros with imports. The Belgian selection is nice, and this is the place I will be visiting when I want De Ranke, Liefmans, Hanssens and Saison Dupont. They have a number of strong dark Belgian ales, a lot of the new batch Stone 2007 RIS, as well as a couple of new beers I had not seen at Chevy Chase Wine - Arcadia Cocoa Loco and Malhuer Dark Brut. Plus, everything here is around $1-2 less than Chevy Chase. They donít carry Cantillon and they donít have a huge German selection, but for US and Belgain bottles this place is solid. If youíre wanting to collect some of the newest and rare bottles to hit DC, probably go to Chevy Chase Wine, but if you live around here and donít want to pay CCW prices for "regular" bottles like Gouden Carolus, Smuttynose Imperial Stout and Allagash Interlude ($4 cheaper here), this is the place.
A nice, tiny neighborhood grocery store with a fairly impressive beer selection, given its size. The aisles are tight, so do not pass gas or a bottle may fall off. Prices are reasonable, and they have the largest collection of Goose Island that I have seen in these parts.
Meh. Street parking was fairly easy and the beer selection was nice. Cramped store, but it looks like thereís some cool things in there. Beers are very overpriced and the staff is surly. Disorganized beer selection.

Rodmanís beer department is very small and super duper cramped- nearly impossible to peruse unhurried. The selection is Top 3 in the DC Metro area without a doubt. Prices are good- but when something goes on sale it usually means itís an IPA past its prime. The staff, Awit and Dave, are extremely nice and helpful. Great people and if you get to know them, they will hook you up. Other than that, most of the staff barely speak English and know nothing whatsoever about beer.
***UPDATE*** Dave, the beer buyer for Rodmanís left awhile ago from poor treatment so now there is really no beer buyer actively lobbying for rare releases. So Rodmanís still has a large selection of six packs and single bottles, but the selection is getting a little poorer with less stuff of interest. Rodmanís is definitely the place to pick up Bellís and Founderís but everything else seems to be lacking. Now that Dave is gone, no one in the store speaks English so forget asking anyone for help. Iím serious. Everyone in the store is Ethiopian or Eritrean. I once asked if they had any Bellís Expedition. I had to show the store clerk a box that said "Bellís" on it so he could recognize the symbol. Maybe someone should call DC Dept of Labor.
Went here to pick up a 5l mini keg of Bells two-hearted. Nice selection, no singles however. They have some nice beers, most prices are good some of them are outrageous though. Beer staff is helpful and parking is easy. Watch for old beer.

Who knew, during all those years accompanying my Dad on shopping trips to Rodmanís, that Iíd be buying craft beer here? Tucked away in a corner of this upscale grocery is a pretty damn good selection of beer. Cases piled high, 2 stuffed coolers, and some shelves with prime stuff. All your major micros are here: Stone, DFH, Bells, Southern Tier, JP, although no Brewers Art this time, alas. Also a fine selection of imported beers, with some especially nice Belgians. Good unintrusive service, always easy to find a bunch you want to take home.
Great beer store in the DC area -- which there are very few of. Wide selection with reasonable prices. The staff really know a lot about beer and are very enthusiastic about what they do. They also have a great selection of wines.
Great place that I surprisingly had never been to while growing up in DC. I had a nice long talk with Dave and he kept pointing out supremely high quality brews, that I pretty much have had, but was pumped to see him talking up the good stuff and not pushing things that are highly priced. Saw new batch of Weyerbacher Riserva and a bunch of other cool stuff.
