Cool vibe in here - old school, not fancy, very comfortable. Shit ton of taps - I count 30. All Rogue beers. Plus spirits. Beers are just okay, you know?

No service at all. Nice choice, but all their beers are good known and nothing new out there :(

Visited late on Wed July 1, 2015. Seemed like a nice relaxed place this time of night. Was going to order a flight and sit with my friends a while. was asked ID, so showed my Swedish driverís license. Apparently since my type of ID was not on some list of approved ID I was not allwoed to stay at the bar, was asked to bring my passport next time. Have never been denied using this as my ID on any of my travels in the world. Also the fact that it does state Iím pretty much twice the legal drinking age of this country didnít seem to matter. The server was more or less just shrugging his shoulders sayain 2sorry dude, you messed up, canít help ya". Not a place Iíd return to with that kind of attitude from the staff.

This is certainly a well worn and almost homely place. Small bar area to the right of the entrance, a few tables out on the patio, and a number of tables to the left of the entrance.
One thing that kind of annoyed me was that for the bathrooms, they just have them labeled as "Barley" and "Hops". I just had to go for it and guess one as no one was around. Apparently Hops = Men. Nice way to make sure some dude wanders into the womanís room (or vice versa).
They have a large selection of different bottles sort of strewn all over the place. There are also a TON of beers on draft. Seemed like 30-40 different offerings and they also have a ton of their spirits. They do tasters of everything and flights of four are available. The group of us settled on 12 beers/ciders/meads to try. Most were not very good.
That last sentence is sort of the key. Rogue is sort of an institution of "craft" beer at this point, but most of their beer is just no longer palatable to me. I sort of felt obligated to come here, but I think you can do much, much better in this city in terms of the actual beer.

A great place. 31 brews on tap. Friendly service and great beers. We didnít eat but the root beer float took a while. They warmly recommended their Newport brewpub... which we later visited. After visiting that I can say that when it comes to bees the selection here is much better. A great variety of beers to go and some merchandise too.

I may have to check out one of their other locations. I like Rogue, I like their brews, I want to like this place ... It has a generic sports bar feel to it, with some cramped outdoor seating. Plenty of delicious beers to choose from, I was happy with that, but, now for the complaints ... The server was, not unfriendly, but didnít leave a good impression on me. There was a sense of impatience with us as we were chatting and taking our time perusing their beer list. Yes shame on us for not being on top of our game, but there wasnít really a crowd waiting on any tables. We got a little bit of attitude when we requested some lemons for the wheat beer - first off, if youíre that stand offish about citrus in your beer, why do you offer salt, pepper, malt vinegar, and hot sauce for any and all of your food items ... not so confident on that one? Also, go read what beer expert Randy Mosher has to say about citrus garnishes, then come talk to us. Anywho, about the food, itís pretty boring, so yeah, maybe theyíre not that confident in it. I was happy with the beer though, which was the reason I was there after all.

Ambiance is pretty cool, busy, a little patio space and plenty of bar space and tables. The service was great, I thought -- I heard people complained about it but I had absolutely no problems. The food didnít look great, I didnít order any. The value was good, too, fair prices for what they offered. The selection was really nice, lots of rarer beers and seasonals. Iím a fan.

Visited during the day. Very old school place, as expected. Playing cringe-worthy music when we were there. The selection is about what you would expect, with nothing bad but nothing outstanding either. Itís kind of sad they havenít modernized the business as the whole operation has a tired feel about it. However, I do like what theyíre doing with their farm and their goal of vertical integration. That is awesome. Of course, itís also an institution and worth a visit if you have time but if youíre tight for time, Iíd give all the old school Portland breweries downtown a miss and head straight for the more elite ones on the other side of the river.
