68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (606) Montreal, Quebec | October 10, 2012 A large room under an apartment tower in the heart of the University district south of Downtown. Obviously, students make up most of the crowd and the bar itself does not have any particular charm. Still, they offer a vast array of Rogue Ales albeit at steeper prices than other pubs around, but it’s not like that does not already exist in the classic NW address. Perhaps worth hitting for Rogue fans who are staying in the southern part of the city, but otherwise, we appreciated the NW Rogue more for its warmer atmosphere, more interesting location and more characterful patrons. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 KyotoLefty (350) Kyoto, Japan | July 24, 2012 College bar serving lots of Rogue on tap. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Usually selection of Rogue beers, though probably not quite as good as the place uptown. Good if you’re in the area, if not, go uptown. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | November 3, 2011 comfy pub half with a fireplace between the bar and tables. roughly 15 taps including a couple of new releases. bottles to go. expensive pints is their MO but overall the beer quality remains high and the college kids are a fun crowd. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 soul11man (54) Portland, Oregon | September 4, 2011 Another great Rogue drinking hole. They have that great Rogue selection. Great service when I was there but it was fairly empty. A small but nice touch they added was having dried hops as garlands and jars of their signature malts for smelling (or tasting I imagine). There were games to keep you interested. As usual the prices were very high. I don’t know why Rogue is alwas more expensive than anyone else. I mean, $5.50 a pint? C’mon guys, it’s good but not quite that. I respect Rogue for what they do but you will pay for it. Anyway, this was a real nice brewpub when you are down in the southside of Downtown PDX. |
