Definitely not the prettiest or most organized place, but it’s the selection that matters most and this place has an excellent selection of beer. We’ve spent a long time in this place and spent quite a bit of money too. There’s always something we’ve never had and they have all our favorites too. Don’t forget to walk in the cooler - it doesn’t seem like you are allowed, but they don’t care - just walk in! Probably one at a time though as it’s stocked so full of beer! I can’t recommend this place enough. Oh and it’s looks like a good selection of wine too, but I know nothing about wine. And Skyline is right next door too!

I’m not a big fan of this place. I’ve been several times, and they’re always out of the Belgiums I’m looking for (which is supposed to be their specialty). And on top of it, the staff hasn’t been all that friendly.

Incredible selection, including some vintage dated bottles unavailable anywhere else. Extremely disorganized, but who can complain about having to spend more time perusing through exotic beers??

Got into Cincinnati at about 11 on a Friday night and I knew this place was open until midnight, giving me my only chance to get some good stuff before a quick, busy weekend in town. Picked up some AleSmith, Buckeye, and a few others not available in Missouri, where I live. The place isn’t much to look at inside or out, but no inch of square footage is wasted. Wine racks are everywhere. A table with some mix-a-six options is on the left, with boxes surrounding it. Beer refrigerators line the left wall, with the beer shelves on the left side of the store. I wanted a YuleSmith Summer, and while they had it, it was the 2009 and not 2010 edition. Tons of craft stuff available here- TBK, DFH, Stone, Bell’s, 21st Amendment, Hoppin’ Frog, Two Brothers, Allagash, The Bruery, Ithaca, and lots more. The service is friendly, the hours are great- just be sure to check the dates on bottles if available.

Surprised by how low the ratings are for this place. Great selection of regional brews and good prices. Kind of stuff all over the place but they had 4 times the beer that Dilly Deli had. Picked up some Clipper City BA Barley wine. Have decent selection of singles. Found some beers here that I did not see anywhere else in OH. Nice store.

When I’m travelling to Ohio, stopping at Skyline Chli multiple times is mandatory. The Skyline on Montgomery Road is frequently populated by the founders, so it’s a historic stop. And right next door is this great little wine and spirits store with a super beer selecton. Found my current favorite Schneider Brooklyner plus lots of good stuff from the big guns Southern Tier, AleSmith, Dogfish, Founders, etc. Service was 5050 - one guy was great, other didn’t appear to care. Guess I’m spoiled by the crew at Wine Works up the road in Springfield. Anyhow, best place for retail beer that I’ve found in Cincinatti.

Little gem of a place well known to the locals of Montgomery / Silverton area. If you are not from the area, you probably don’t know about it. That’s too bad too. This place has a HUGE selection that is only rivaled by places like Jungle Jim’s and The Party Source. I’ve heard of other local places in Cincy that offer great selections as well, but these places are usually only known to locals. Beer service / knowledge varies quite a bit depending who is working there at the time.

Definitely worth stopping in to search for some hard to find beers. The focus is on wine, but towards the back there is a very nice selection of brews from AleSmith, Bellls, Dogfish Head, Founders, Rochefort, Southern Tier, and many more. Organization is lacking, but some (including myself) are happy to browse the entire selection, gazing carefully at each label to be sure not to miss anything. About half of the selection is refrigerated in several coolers (one of them walk-in) and there’s also a table towards the front of the store with single 12oz bottles for sale. Purchased a Speedway Stout, Choklat, and a pack of Hopslam during my last visit. Always something worthwhile here, especially if you’re a big fan of AleSmith.

The other stop on my Cincy roadtrip. VERY nice little store! Mostly wine, but lots and lots of fun stuff in the back! Staff was very helpful, talked beer with us for a few minutes, and offered some good tips on good beer. I’m from Indiana, so getting to walk in a beer cave is still new to me, pretty damn fun!

The Root Cellar specializes in wine and port, but they also have quite a bit of beer. However, it is hit or miss on what might be there. Sometimes you can find some rare or vintage stuff, but that is not typical. I always like to stop by just to try my luck though! Also be sure to check out their stash of bargain/sale beer...
