64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Theydon_Bois (394) The ’Sham, England | January 4, 2013| Updated June 5, 2013 Revisited Tuesday June 4th ’13. Selection was better than on my previous call. 4 Cromarty offerings, 1 from Tempest and they continue to stock the newer London Micros with Partizan and Wild Card available in addition to those id listed before.
Visited on Friday lunchtime 4th Jan.
Whisky shop with a few shelves of good beers around 70% Scottish and 30% London based.
I reckon no more than 30/35 different beers available on my visit so perhaps stocks have thinned down since this was added to the site?
London beers from Kernel, Redchurch, Beavertown, Sambrooks and beers from around a dozen Scottish micros. Nothing from Tempest on this visit - which I was hoping for and only one Cromarty offering.
Service defaulted to 7 - nothing actually tempted me to purchase so gave a decent enough rating in this respect based on other reviews (as you can’t choose n/a on this one!).
Worth popping into if you’re in the area or are specifically after Scottish micros - otherwise I wouldn’t be going out of may way for this one! | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 jackl (215) London, England | November 24, 2012| Updated June 5, 2013 This is a great place to check out if you’re looking for Scottish beer. Many of the best breweries in Scotland are well represented (Tryst, Cromarty etc). There’s also a few local brews available too. Prices are reasonable. Overall, this is a nice resource for Scottish beer in a convenient location. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 EdKing (101) London, England | September 17, 2012| Updated June 5, 2013 Whiskey shop between New Oxford Street and British Museum. Mainly a very good whiskey stockist but also has a decent range of the better Scottish beers including a few rare Orkney bottles. Now stocks London brewers as well such as Beaverton, Redchurch, Meantime. Didn’t have any Kernels when I went in. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | April 25, 2012| Updated June 5, 2013 Small whisky shop located 2 minutes walk from Tottenham Court Rd tube station. This is the sister shop of the one located in Edinburgh. Due to customer demand their beer selection has increased dramatically over the last year or so. They had about 70 bottles at my last visit, which as you may expect focuses on Scottish breweries . Think a long the lines of Tempest, Black Isle, Williams Brothers, Tryst and Fyne. This is the only location in London to my knowledge to get beer from some of these brewers. The selection includes several one-offs such as Black Isle Black Islay and Fraoch 22. There is also beer from some London locals like Redchurch and Kernel. Well worth a visit when in central London. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (393) London, England | April 13, 2012| Updated June 5, 2013 Great little shop in Bloomsbury. The emphasis is on whiskies here, but the store also has a very solid range of [mostly Scottish] beer. I’ve found numerous beers here that I haven’t seen anywhere else in London. Prices are good. Staff is very friendly. One of the best places to get beer in central London. |
